Jake Wood loses Strictly Come Dancing bet

Jake Wood lost a £500 bet after being voted off 'Strictly Come Dancing' last night (14.12.14).
The 42-year-old actor left the dance contest after landing himself in the bottom two alongside reality star Mark Wright and has been dealt two blows at once having also lost a bet to fellow 'EastEnders' star, Danny Dyer.
He admitted: "Me and Danny have a little bet going on so I owe him £500.
"But that is all I will say on that. If Danny fancies it I am sure they would have him on the show. I would like to see his rumba!"
Although his pockets might be sore from the loss, Jake - who is known for playing Max Branning in the BBC One soap - said he is proud of reaching the competition's semi-final and praised his dance partner Janette Manrara who taught him how to groove.
He continued: "It's a huge disappointment to go out in the semi-finals but for a 42-year-old dad of two, who's never danced before, Janette has worked wonders.
"It's been a real privilege to watch her work and she's so passionate about what she does that it's infectious.
"I am so pleased I did the show. I am known as Max Branning, so it's lovely to show a different side to me."
Despite having been one of the favourites to win with several high scoring numbers throughout the series, the star revealed he doesn't plan on keeping up his dancing skills.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he added: "It has been amazing but I think I will hang up my dancing shoes."

Sir Michael Parkinson brands The Jonathan Ross Show as ‘daft’

Sir Michael Parkinson has branded 'The Jonathan Ross Show' "daft".
The veteran broadcaster expressed his sadness about the death of in-depth interviews on talk shows, describing 'The Jonathan Ross Show' as silly for its playful chats.
Speaking about the programme, he said: "[It is] an event thing with everybody having a good time and being daft."
While the 79-year-old journalist - who presented 'Parkinson' until 2007 - praised Graham Norton for his talk show, he berated Piers Morgan who "has always been a good interviewer" but whose programme has an awful television format.
However, he said no shows have recaptured a classic format because the public are no longer interested in serious interviews and programme-makers are "bureaucrats".
He continued: "I'm sure there are some young eager beavers out there, men and women, who would do a very classic talk show, an interview programme, but nobody seems very interested.
"I was very lucky that when I was there it was run by programme makers... They were either very good journalists or very good at showbusiness. They weren't bureaucrats. Now it seems to me there are more bureaucrats than anything else. It shows in the broadcasting."
Despite mourning the lack of classic methods of interviewing, Michael stated he has no wish to return to the small screen.
He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "Not that I'm volunteering - I've done my stint."

Ben Haenow’s estranged father was at X Factor final

Ben Haenow's estranged father was at the 'X Factor' final last night (14.12.14).
The 29-year-old star was crowned winner of the ITV talent show last night and he's revealed his dad - who left him and his family when he was just a toddler - was in the crowd to cheer him to victory.
Speaking on 'Lorraine' about rebuilding their relationship, Ben said: "He was actually there on the Sunday night. It's the first time they [his mum and dad] have been in the same kind of room together for a long time but I think it was a proud moment for both of them and I really wanted them both there."
The hunk also had the support of his long term girlfriend Jessica Jones - who he previously revealed prepared him for the live shows by getting raunchy - who he describes as his "rock".
Quizzed on how long they'd been together, he said: "Yeah over six years and again she's kind of been my rock through this. If I needed to speak to anyone when I was down about anything she was always there for me."
Ben - who admits he didn't sleep at all after beating fellow over 25s contestant Fleur East last night - is now looking forward to taking a break over the festive season.
He added: "I think I'm going to get a couple of days off over Christmas, just to get back and see my family and have some good food."

Vicky Pattison struggling to cope with break-up

Vicky Pattison is finding her split from James Morgan "hard" to cope with.
The 'Geordie Shore' star recently called time on her seven-month romance with the 33-year-old ice hockey player because she wants to put her career first now she has quit the reality show, but admits she is missing him a lot.
She said: "James is an amazing guy and it's been a hard break-up because I do miss him loads. I'm hurting a lot.
"We split because we were barely seeing each other.
"I've left 'Geordie Shore' and I feel - career-wise - I need to strike while the iron's hot and focus on the opportunities coming my way.
"Right now, I feel men will only hold me back."
Vicky recently met up with Dan Conn in Australia and hasn't ruled out rekindling her romance with the hunk - who she dated two years ago while filming 'Geordie Shore' in Sydney - in the future.
She told Closer magazine: "I did enjoy a great night with Dan recently. I wouldn't rule out a romance with him in the future - he is stunning.
"And he told me he was considering a move to the UK soon, which is exciting.
"But it's too soon for me to date. I need some time on my own to focus on me."

Keith Chegwin to star in Celebrity Big Brother

Keith Chegwin has agreed to appear in the new series of 'Celebrity Big Brother'.
The 57-year-old TV presenter, who is perhaps best known for his appearances on the 'Big Breakfast', has starred on reality TV shows in the past, including 'Dancing On Ice' in 2013, and is set to enter the house alongside the likes of Simon Cowell's ex Alicia Douvall and Calum Best.
An insider at Channel 5 explained why TV bosses were keen to have him appear on the show, telling The Sun newspaper: "CBB bosses hope Keith will bring a lot of fun to the show.
"He is a nice guy and could be the peacekeeper in the house."
Last week, a number of stars were linked to the show, including Katie Price, who will reportedly be joined in the house by one of her former lovers.
Although Katie's ex-husband Alex Reid and her "first love" Dane Bowers have appeared on the show before, that scenario failed to ignite the drama TV bosses were craving.
An insider said: "There was nowhere near the fireworks they hoped for.
"So this year they want Katie in there herself to cause havoc with an ex. It could be very explosive."
Katie's list of former flames includes Dwight Yorke, 43, Gareth Gates, 30, and her first husband Peter Andre, 41.

Gillian Anderson: I love that Stella Gibson is unpredicatble

Gillian Anderson likes that her 'The Fall' character is unpredictable.
The 'X-Files' actress stars as DSI Stella Gibson in the BBC One crime drama and she's confessed the character has been a joy to play because she's constantly developing.
She said: "Just when you think you've understood a little bit about her she'll do something and you'll go, 'Whoa, what are you doing?' And I like that about her."
The 46-year-old star also rubbished claims the show - which stars 'Fifty Shades of Grey' actor Jamie Dornan as serial killer Paul Spector - glamorises violence against women.
She continued: "There are still huge holes in a system where women are so afraid to come forward, and still people get cleared. It's highly possible that if more women were in a position to change the laws, it would be handled differently."
Gillian - who recently made her directing debut after thinking about it for a "long time" - would like to try her hand at comedy but claims she's never thought of as being funny.
She added to The Observer newspaper: "There's a dearth of comedy anyway, and they don't generally come my way. I don't know what I need to prove to people that I can be funny."

Ben Haenow wins The X Factor

Ben Haenow has won 'The X Factor'.
The 29-year-old singer - who impressed the judges with his rendition of 'Ain't No Sunshine' at his room audition - received the highest amount of public votes, beating Fleur East, 26, to the crown.
Speaking after his win, he said: "Oh my God, I can't believe it. I can't believe it. I can't believe it. Thank you so much for making my dreams come true. This is it; thank you so much."
His mentor, Simon Cowell, said: "I could not be happier for you, Ben. You deserved it; you're a great guy. This is your moment. I'm so proud of you."
The 10,000 people that packed the SSE Arena in Wembley, north-west London were wowed with performances from international superstars.
'X Factor' alumni, Olly Murs, was joined on stage by Demi Lovato to perform their new track, 'Up' whilst Sam Smith performed his smash hit song 'Stay With Me'.
One Direction blew the roof off the arena with their performance of 'Where Do Broken Hearts Go' off their latest album, 'Four', with the help of The Rolling Stones rocker, Ronnie Wood whilst the 16 'X Factor' finalists opened the show with a high-energy performance of 'What A Feeling'.
Meanwhile, Mel B - who was replaced by former judge, Tulisa Contostavlos during last night's (13.12.14) episode - made her return to the ITV show after recovering from a mystery illness.
The official X Factor Twitter account broke the good news earlier today, writing: "Mel B is back on #XFactor tonight.
"After the hospital discharged her & following medical advice Mel is deemed well enough for the show. (sic)"
Mel's final contestant, Andrea Faustini, was booted off the show last night (13.12.14).
After his exit, the third-placed singer said: "It's just incredible because I've come so far. This has been the most crazy and beautiful experience of my life. It's so unexpected and I'm so happy anyway."

Jake Wood eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing

Jake Wood has left 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 42-year-old soap star was eliminated from the BBC One dancing show after him and his partner, Janette Manrara, lost out in the dance-off to Mark Wright.
Speaking after his exit, Jake said: "Obviously it's a huge disappointment to go out in the semi-finals.
"For a 42-year-old dad-of-two whose never danced before, whose never had a dance lesson ... This woman's worked wonders."
His dancing partner, Janette, praised his "drive" and determination.
She said: "I don't have enough words to say how proud I am of him. He's come from nowhere and gotten all the way to the semi-finals on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
"He's been an absolute pleasure to work with. So driven, so focused ... He's my friend for life now."
Meanwhile, Mark, 27, revealed that he was "shocked" by the result.
He said: "I'm extremely shocked, I thought we were going home. This guy next to me has impressed everybody week after week with dances that no one believed he would have.
"I just thought: 'His cha cha was amazing, we're going home'. Jake, you're a true mate, you always will be."
Next week, the remaining four contestants: Caroline Flack, Frankie Bridge, Simon Webbe and Mark Wright will perform two dances for a chance to be crowned 'Strictly Come Dancing's 2014 champion.

Mel B returns to The X Factor

The former Spice Girl missed last night's (13.12.14) live show after being hospitalised with a mystery illness and was replaced by former judge, Tulisa Contostavlos.
The official X Factor Twitter account broke the good news, writing: "Mel B is back on #XFactor tonight.
"After the hospital discharged her & following medical advice Mel is deemed well enough for the show. (sic)"
The 39-year-old singer - who collapsed on Thursday (11.12.14) - was given round-the-clock care whilst her husband, Stephen Belafonte, remained at her bedside awaiting her test results.
A source previously said: "She is in a bad way. Everyone is very worried. It seems impossible she will make the final. We are all just praying she comes through this."
Another insider added: "Stephen is beside himself. Mel means everything to him. Her body is in shutdown. She's been working so hard and it is extreme exhaustion."
Mel - whose last remaining contestant, Andrea Faustini, was booted off the show last night (14.12.14) - will return to see Fleur East and Ben Haenow battle to be crowned 'The X Factor' champion for 2014 but was "beyond devastated" when she found out she would miss the first of the show's two-part final.
