Mary Berry "can't bear the thought of retirement".
The 'Great British Bake Off' judge will turn 80 later this month but has no plans to slow down by reducing her role on the show or stop writing new cookery books because she feels healthy and loves working.
She admitted: "I'm not really thinking about turning 80 - nothing is different. I can't bear the thought of retirement and I haven't prepared myself for it. I don't play bridge and I don't play golf. I do play tennis, but you can't do that every day of the week. Besides, why should I retire when I love every moment?"
Instead, the celebrity chef - who recently released her new book 'Mary Berry Absolute Favourites' - says she plans to carry on with the popular BBC One baking show for the foreseeable future, and attributes her well-being to a healthy diet, despite the amount of cakes she and Paul Hollywood have to eat on 'Bake Off'.
She told HELLO! magazine: "I've been large in my time and I know exactly what puts on weight - it's eating between meals.
"I didn't like being large and having tight trousers so I lost two stone.
"I don't want to be fat so if I'm judging 'Bake Off', I taste everything and have a salad for lunch."

Jamie Laing will be "really angry" if Spencer Matthews gets married.
The 'Made in Chelsea' star admits he is a very "selfish" person who hates it when his friends - including Spencer, who is smitten with Lauren Hutton - get into relationships and have less time to spend with him.
He said: "I'll be really angry if Spencer proposes. He's too young. He's got too much to do. I feel like you should live your life before you get married.
"I'm actually really selfish - I hate it when my friends get boyfriends or girlfriends. I hate being left alone and having no one to hang out with more than anything."
Though Jamie approves of Spencer's relationship with Lauren, he insists she is nothing like the type of girl he is attracted to himself.
Jamie told Now magazine: "She's sweet. She's great. She likes to get her hair done every day - and I mean every day!
"Now, I love a girl who, if you jump in the mud, she'll jump in with you. I can't handle it when they're so... But she's sweet and he loves her.
And the Candy Kittens founder does think Lauren is a positive influence on his pal.
He said: "He's been sober for a total of five weeks and he's aiming for six months. I think she's a big part of it, because if you have a girlfriend you have no need for temptation."

Holly Willoughby knew her husband was 'The One' "pretty quickly" after they started dating.
The presenter has been married to TV producer Dan Baldwin for seven years and even though she didn't "fancy him at first" and doesn't think Dan was instantly attracted her when they decided to take their six-month friendship to the next level Holly quickly fell in love with him.
In an interview in Woman & Home magazine, she said: "I didn't fancy him at first ... I don't think he could have fancied me either because it was such a genuine friendship."
Recalling when their romance began, she explained: "I knew he was 'The One' pretty quickly. But we kept it a secret for eight months because I didn't want to give anyone a reason to be annoyed with us."
Holly and Dan recently welcomed their third child into their lives, seven-month-old son Chester, and the 'This Morning' host insists he has completed their family.
The 34-year-old star - who also has Harry, five, and Belle, four - said: "One child is great, and so was two - but it felt like we were waiting for Chester to come along. He's just made everything sit really well. And I am now outnumbered! I feel it, too. But we've all just had to adapt ... Mum helps me out a lot with the children, which is great."

Tom Pearce was in intensive care for two days after undergoing an operation which could have left him in a wheelchair.
The former 'The Only Way is Essex' hunk had surgery in January to correct the curvature of his spine and revealed any complications during the terrifying procedure could have left him unable to walk because of the delicate area on which they were working.
He explained: "They broke my back in 15 places and I have two titanium rods either side of my spine. It was a massive op - I was in hospital for over a week and in intensive care for two days. If something had gone wrong I could have ended up in a wheelchair."
Although the operation was a success, he admitted six weeks later he is still unable to complete simple tasks so has been forced to move back in to his family home.
He said: "I went back to my mum and dad's - the plan was just for a week, but four weeks later I'm still here as it's so hard to do anything and there have been some complications.
"I can't lift anything more than 1kg - that's a bag of sugar - so people even have to pull out chairs for me. Thankfully I've been able to shower and wash myself, though. It'll be three months before I can go back in the gym, which I can't wait for."
However, the 23-year-old stockbroker revealed there have been some positive outcomes, as he now has far less of a chance of developing a hunchback, and is almost three inches taller.
He told Now magazine: "One good thing is that because the curve's been sorted, I'm now 2.5in taller. I was 5ft 11in before and now I'm 6ft 1in!"

Jessica Wright thinks Ricky Rayment has an "agenda" with his new girlfriend Marnie Simpson.
The 'Only Way is Essex' beauty doesn't care her former boyfriend has moved on with the 'Geordie Shore' star but she is unsure whether their public displays of romance are actually genuine.
She said: "It sounds horrible but he's in my past. But one thing I will say is there are reports I was crying in Tenerife and that is categorically the biggest load of crap in the world. I didn't shed one tear.
"I don't want to slag him off but I question the agenda (of his PDAs with Marnie). It's not my problem though and I wish them well. Good luck to them."
Jess insists she is happy being single and plans to make the most of having no ties to a guy.
Speaking to New! magazine, she said: "I'm in a really good place. I'm just working on me. I'm going to travel a lot this year.
"Whenever I go to the US or Dubai, I meet a lot of lovely guys so I'm going to spread my wings beyond Essex I think."
Jess, 29, recently shared a kiss with a DJ in Tenerife and hasn't ruled out seeing him again.
She said: "He was really sweet. I met him on the second night and we kept looking at each other. He looked really cool and is a DJ.
"We got talking - he can speak a bit of English and I can speak a bit of Spanish. He bought us all tequila shots and was just really gentlemanly.
"But it was a cheeky flirt and a snog, here and there. You know what happens on holiday when you're single! Will I see him again? He DJs in Ibiza and I love Ibiza, so..."

Gregg Wallace wants to have seven children with his fiancée Anne-Marie Sterpini.
The 'Masterchef' judge - who has been married three times previously and has two adult children, Tom, 20, and Libby, 17, from his second marriage to Denise - wants to have babies when he weds the TV presenter later this year and intends to extend his brood considerably.
When asked if he was planning to have more children, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Yes - I can't wait! Little plump, fat, dribbling Greggs and Gregginas. Well Anne said she only wants one, but I'd be happy with seven.
"I'm a single parent. I've brought my children up on my own. I'm looking forward to having a baby with Anne."
In addition to starting a family with the brunette beauty, Gregg is also looking forward to her mother moving in with them.
He said: "What I'm particularly looking forward to is her mum moving in. I really like her mum and dad. I reckon her mum will be there as soon as she gets pregnant. I mean her mum comes down and visits quite a bit.
"She's like, 'There were some apples just going to rot in the fruit bowl so I just made an apple pie. And I noticed you didn't have a pasta machine, so I bought you a pasta machine.' I just love her mum and dad."
However, Gregg doesn't just rely on his future parents-in-law to make the couple delicious meals, and enjoys spending his free time cooking with Anne over the weekend.
The TV presenter - who is the Ideal Food ambassador at this year's Ideal Home Show - said: "Anna and I like to cook together, it's what we do. That's our thing. We do that together. I'll get home and early afternoon, we already know what we are cooking Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday night. We put music on, we open a bottle of wine and we cook together."
The Ideal Home Show sponsored by Anglian Home Improvements is returning to Olympia London on 20 March 2015. For tickets visit www.idealhomeshow.co.uk or call 0844 858 6763.

Pam St. Clement gave all of her 'EastEnders' character Pat Butcher's trademark earrings to charity.
The 72-year-old actress is famous for playing the Walford stalwart in the BBC One soap and although she was gifted several pairs of earrings when left the show in 2012 Pam didn't keep any of them because she wanted to use the oversized jewellery to raise money for good causes.
Speaking about Pat's earrings, she explained: "They are the property of the BBC costume department, so they had most of them and they need them for archive as well. But they said to me when I went, 'Would you like to take some for charities?' So they gave me about half a dozen pairs which were snapped up fairly rapidly I have to say. And I have none left."
Pam - who recently released her autobiography 'The End of an Earring' - acted in the soap for 25-and-a-half years before bowing out, and believes it will be her defining role because of the amount of time she spent playing the character.
Speaking on TV show 'Lorraine', she said: "It was over a quarter of a century of my life so it's got to be an important part of my life and I suppose it's in people's minds because they see you so frequently as that character."

Danny Dyer's fiancée wants Julio Iglesias to sing on their wedding day.
Joanne Mas - who proposed to the 'EastEnders' star on Valentine's Day (14.02.15) - is the 71-year-old singer's "biggest fan" and would love to be serenaded by the Spanish crooner when she ties the knot with Danny, 37.
A source said: "Jo is one of Julio's biggest fans. She has been to all his concerts.
"Her dream would be to have him perform at the wedding."
Joanne, 38, is said to be making every effort to secure Julio - who is the father of Enrique Iglesias - for her big day and has even joked she might not make it down the aisle if Julio agrees to perform.
The source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "She is making steps to contact his management. But she has joked that if he does perform she might end up marrying him."
Joanne - who has three children, Dani, 18, Sunnie, six, and Arty, 16 months - with the actor broke with tradition to ask for his hand in marriage last month.
Danny admitted he was shocked by her proposal, describing her decision to pop the question as a "bolt out of the blue".
He said: "I'm glad she did it because I don't think I could have taken the rejection. It was a bolt out of the blue. I love the fact Jo proposed."
Joanne added: "I always wanted to marry him and decided if I didn't get things moving, it wouldn't happen.
"I never wanted to get married when the children were babies because I wanted to let my hair down and enjoy the day.
"But we have had our little boy now and we're not going to have any more, so the time is right."

Aidan Turner was too "afraid" to watch the original 'Poldark' series when filming the remake.
The 31-year-old actor plays lead character Captain Ross Poldark in the eight-episode BBC One drama but confessed the pressure to live up to the critically acclaimed original series, broadcast between 1975 and 1977, was too much, so he decided to avoid it.
He explained: "I decided not to watch the originals on DVD because I was afraid it would influence me in the wrong way. I had heard Robin Ellis's performance was so good and I didn't want to end up mimicking him, so I read the novels instead."
However, the handsome star was thrilled to secure the role, particularly because it meant he got to play a human, having previously acted as mythical creatures in TV drama 'Being Human' as well as 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' and 'The Hobbit' trilogy.
He confessed: "I don't want more fantasy or supernatural stuff right now. In the past few years I've played a vampire, a werewolf and a dwarf and that was enough for me."
And while he has grown tired of the fantasy characters he has so frequently been cast as, Aidan is still pleased he became an actor because it opened his eyes to new literature.
He told Radio Times magazine: "I wasn't super-academic so I didn't apply for university, I didn't want to learn a trade like my dad, so there were not a lot of options. It was a very working-class family - none of my relations are artists. Drama school opened doors to other worlds: literature, movies, plays. I discovered all these great Irish playwrights that I didn't know existed and there they were, on my doorstep. It was a revelation."
