Michelle Keegan: Coronation Street was my ‘safety blanket’

Michelle Keegan says 'Coronation Street' was her "safety blanket".
The brunette beauty has admitted she was "shocked" when she was told she could never make a return to the soap after her character Tina McIntyre was killed off in a dramatic storyline that saw her murdered by Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis).
She said: "As an actress, there is something very reassuring about working on a soap. You're working every day and it's regular work. So I guess ['Coronation Street'] was a bit of a safety blanket.
"I had hoped they wouldn't [kill off Tina] so it was a bit of a shock. I wanted them to leave the door open because it would have been reassuring to know the show would always be there."
And the 27-year-old star says it wasn't an "easy decision" to leave the ITV soap behind but producers insisted she was "very lucky" to exit in such a dramatic storyline.
She added to BBC Breakfast: "But then they told me they had this great leaving storyline - and I was very lucky to go out on such a high.
"It wasn't an easy decision to leave the show and jump ship. It took me a few years to actually do it. I still miss everyone."
Meanwhile, Michelle - who is engaged to television personality Mark Wright - recently praised the soap for making her a "better actress".
She said: "'Corrie' made me a better actress, it was an amazing platform.
"You go in day in, day out for 12 hours and I had amazing storylines in 'Coronation Street' so I do think it gave me the experience to go on and do other things."

ITV acquires rights to Family Guy

ITV has acquired the rights to 'Family Guy'.
The network has confirmed they have struck a deal to air the popular animated show as it returns for its fifteenth season.
ITV's Director of Television, Peter Fincham said: "Seth MacFarlane's shows have firmly established him as the comedy voice of choice for an entire generation.
"Seth is sharp, hugely irreverent and brilliantly funny which is reflected in his fantastic shows. We are delighted to be welcoming him and his comic creations to ITV."
Whilst Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution's President of International Television, Marion Edwards added: "Family Guy is one of our most important, iconic series and we are very excited about this new collaboration.
"We are confident that this extraordinary series will not only bring its loyal fan base to ITV, but will also be embraced by an entirely new set of fans."
In autumn 2015, 'Family Guy' will move from its current home on BBC Three, with the channel soon to be moving online, to ITV 2 alongside its sister shows including 'American Dad', 'The Cleveland Show' and the new 'Bordertown'.
'Bordertown', also created by Seth MacFarlane, will follow the story of two neighbours, Bud Buckwald and Ernesto Gonzales, living in a desert town near the Mexican border.

Gok Wan to host The Asian Awards

Gok Wan will host this year's The Asian Awards.
The 40-year-old TV personality has taken over from previous presenter Lord Coe to front the annual ceremony which will be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on April 17.
The awards - which celebrate outstanding achievements and excellence of Asians across the world in categories including business, arts, sports and public services - will be attended by a host of politicians, musicians, industrialists and celebrities.
Previous winners include Gok himself - who picked up last year's Outstanding Achievement in Television Award - Sir Ben Kingsley and businessman Sir David Tang.
The 'Gok's Fashion Fix' star said: "I can't wait to host The 2015 Asian Awards! Last year I won the Outstanding Achievement in Television award, and other winners included remarkable people like Jackie Chan, Norah Jones and one of my fashion heroes, Sir David Tang. It's also one of the best parties of the year, so bring it on!"
Expected attendees include One Direction's Zayn Malik, Paloma Faith, Simon Cowell, Rita Ora, will.i.am, Louis Walsh and Nick Grimshaw.

Eleanor Tomlinson’s boy fear

Eleanor Tomlinson used to "crawl in a corner and hide" if she saw a boy.
The 'Poldark' star has admitted before she starred in 'Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging' at the age of 16, she used to avoid boys whenever she could but has since realised they are not "weird aliens".
She said: "I was really quiet and nowhere near as confident as I am now. If I was in a room with a boy I'd crawl in a corner and hide. Since that film I've just been ten times more natural around guys whether I fancy them or not.
"They are all actually human and not some weird aliens - even though they are a bit strange. Instead of being mega-flirty and the whole hair-twiddling thing, it works just to be their friends."
But the 22-year-old actress thinks it's easy to spot when she does like someone.
She added: "I go a bit giggly and stupid. I tend to walk into things and fall over. It's all very funny."
In last night's (22.03.15) episode of the BBC One drama, Demelza, played by Eleanor, and Captain Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) got intimate but the actress has defended the racy scenes and insists it was done tastefully.
She added to The Sun newspaper: "It's not all about someone showing their boobs for the sake of it. It's more subtle. There's a lot of breathing on necks which is much more erotic than full-on sex.
"Mind you, there is still part of me that thinks, 'Oh no! I'll have to watch this with my dad', which will be really embarrassing."

Adrian Chiles and Karen Danczuk for Strictly Come Dancing?

Adrian Chiles and Karen Danczuk are being lined up to appear on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The former football commentator and the wife of Labour MP Simon Danczuk are just some of the celebrities who are reportedly being lined up to take to the dance floor later this year for the thirteenth series of the BBC One show.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Every year the producers want to get bigger names than the year before and two names that are on their radar are Adrian's and Karen's.
"It came as a huge shock to everyone when Adrian Chiles was sacked by ITV - it got everyone talking. People haven't seen much of him and he hasn't spoken out about what happened so he would be a great addition to the show. Karen has been everywhere over recent months. She loves the limelight and there's a strong interest in her story.
"For both, it could give their careers a massive boost as it has done with previous contestants."
If the pair do join the show, they could follow in the footsteps of this year's top three contestants: winner Caroline Flack and runner-ups Simon Webbe and Frankie Bridge.

Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘difficult divorce’

Jeremy Clarkson is going through a "difficult divorce".
The 'Top Gear' presenter told his former rival Piers Morgan about his split from Frances Cain, his wife of 21 years, when the pair met to end their long-time feud.
Recalling the conversation in his Mail on Sunday column, Piers wrote: "'Morgan,' he sighed, 'I'm going through a difficult divorce, my first ex-wife has also came out of the woodwork to give me hell, I'm smoking too much, drinking too much, my back hurts, I'm all over the papers with this N-word scandal, I'm at war with my BBC bosses, and my mother has just died. I simply don't have the energy for you any more.'
"'I'm actually relieved,' I replied, 'because I've run out of vile epithets in the English language to deploy about you. There are only so many ways I can call you a fat, useless ****.'"
On top of the troubles in his personal life, Jeremy is currently suspended from the BBC after a "fracas" with a producer of the motoring show he co-hosts.
He is awaiting the report from an internal investigation, led by the Director of BBC Scotland, Ken MacQuarrie, into the allegations made against him.
But if he does face the chop, he may "sue" the BBC, a source has claimed.
They said previously: "There is no doubt that if Jeremy is fired it won't be the end of it. Lawyers will be involved."

X Factor boss warns of ‘changes’

'X Factor' bosses have warned there will be "changes" ahead of the next series.
The show's executive producer Richard Holloway says bosses of the ITV show are considering altering the current format and judging panel - which includes Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Mel B and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
He said: "There will be some exciting changes. The name of the show will stay the same but we are looking at the format and the judges.
"There will be some surprises this year. But I can't go into detail."
When asked which judges have an assured seat on the panel come May - when the line-up will be announced, he simply added: "It is safe to say Simon is staying."
Richard is keen to keep the show moving "with the times" after ten years on the air in a bid to beat rival BBC One show 'Strictly Come Dancing' in the ratings.
He added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "We have been making the show for 10 years and to make it popular you have to refresh the show.
"You need to look at every aspect and move with the times. There is an ongoing battle with Strictly. On overall volume they beat us last year. It has been a few years since we beat them on overall volume.
"It is quite interesting the split of the audience. It is very defined. Let battle commence but we would love to beat them."

Snoop Dogg reveals he’s a fan of Jeremy Clarkson

Snoop Dogg thinks the BBC would be "crazy" to fire Jeremy Clarkson.
The 43-year-old rapper is a huge fan of the controversial presenter, who faces being axed from the corporation over claims he punched a 'Top Gear' producer in the face.
He said: "The BBC got to be crazy to even think about firing Jeremy Clarkson.
"He isn't part of Top Gear - he is Top Gear. If they even think about firing him, Britain needs to boycott the BBC until he is reinstated.
"It don't matter what country I am in, I know if I stick the TV on in a hotel room then I am gonna get CNN and I am gonna get Top Gear.
"The reason it is syndicated all over the world is because of Jeremy and the BBC have gotta get that."
However, Snoop thinks Clarkson could enjoy big success in America if the BBC decides to let him go.
According to The Sun newspaper, he said: "He ain't going to be sacked - the BBC can't afford to do that - but I guarantee you if he was, every major network in the US would be trying to sign him up to front a car show.
"He is guaranteed to get big ratings."

Brian McFadden wants to be an X Factor judge

Brian McFadden wants to be a judge on 'The X Factor'.
The 34-year-old former Westlife singer insists he would never be a contestant on a reality TV show but he would jump at the chance of helping someone's career as a talent show judge.
He said: "I would never do a show like 'Celebrity Big Brother' or 'I'm a Celebrity...'. I don't know how people just sit there - that wouldn't excite me.
"But I wouldn't say no to 'The Voice' or 'The X Factor', as you feel like you've had a hand in someone's career."
And one person who could use Brian's career advice is 13-year-old Molly, his eldest daughter with ex-wife Kerry Katona.
Brian - who also has 12-year-old Lilly-Sue with the Atomic Kitten star - said: "Molly is a great singer and she's gone through phases of wanting to become a pop star.
"I'm support her whatever her dream is, but firstly my girls have to get a good education"
Away from work, Brian and wife Vogue Williams, 29, want to have a son, though the model-and-DJ isn't ready to take a career break to have a baby just yet.
She told Closer magazine: "I've always wanted to have a little boy first as I have older brothers. If Brian was the one able to get pregnant then we'd consider having children now but I'm not ready as I don't want to stop working.
"I hope to have babies in my early thirties."
Ben added: "We'd love a little boy to cause some madness."
