June Whitfield to play nun in EastEnders

June Whitfield will play a nun in EastEnders.
The 89-year-old actress - who is set to make a guest appearance in the BBC One soap - will join the Albert Square residents as a sister who tries to console Kat Moon, played by Jessie Wallace, by offering her a drink after she is forced to remember her past in an upcoming storyline, reports The Sun newspaper.
The 'Absolutely Fabulous' star's scenes will air in May 2015 and June confessed she is "very excited" to be a part of the show.
She said: "I have watched 'EastEnders' for years, and have been so impressed by the standard of acting. It was an absolute delight to work with Jessie Wallace and I am very excited to be part of the show."
Also set to make a guest appearance on the popular soap is 'Howards' Way' actress Jan Harvey who will star in scenes opposite Sharon Mitchell, played by Letitia Dean, next month.
Jan said: "I loved working on such an iconic show. Everyone was so welcoming. 'EastEnders' is really like one big family".
Bosses are currently keeping the upcoming storylines under wraps but executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins was thrilled to have June and Jan on-set.
He said: "We are extremely privileged to have two British television legends joining us for guest roles as Albert Square heads into the Spring. Both June and Jan are class acts, bringing warmth and humanity to two characters who will shed some light on the past of two of our most iconic women - Sharon Mitchell and Kat Moon - changing both their lives in very different ways..."

Stevie McCrorie wants to collaborate with Calvin Harris

Stevie McCrorie wants to collaborate with Calvin Harris.
The 'Voice UK' winner has revealed that the fellow Scottish DJ would be one of his dream people to work with, after hearing his collaboration with Haim, 'Pray to God', although he doesn't think he's established enough to work with him just yet, having just released his debut single 'Lost Stars'.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Stevie said: "I'd love to collaborate with Kelly Jones of Stereophonics and, even, James Bay. I think he's such a great artist but he's probably too busy for me!
"I love Calvin Harris' stuff, and he's from Scotland as well. I like what he did with Haim, and I thought that was cool, because they're obviously really bandy like me.
"I don't think these things are open for discussion at this stage of my career though, I probably need to get a bit bigger!"
While these are just dream artists for the 30-year-old musician, one person that is definitely going to feature on Stevie's first album is his 'Voice UK' mentor Ricky Wilson, as the pair got on really well on the BBC show, and have been talking about a future collaboration.
The former fire-fighter said: "There have been talks of collaborating with Ricky on the album, and having him on a song. I'd love that to happen, it would be an honour for me.
"I know that, if I'm playing the same festivals as him, we'll just get on stage and sing together, so that will be amazing as well.
"Obviously he's famous and he's in such a massive successful band [Kasabian] that are still going, but then, when it all boiled down, he'd just have banter with me, and we got on really well."

Conchita Wurst says Eurovision song contest is like the ‘gay Olympics’

Conchita Wurst thinks the Eurovision song contest is like the "gay Olympics".
The 'Rise Like a Phoenix' hitmaker - who triumphed in the 2014 competition - has likened the singing contest to the international sporting event.
She told the Guardian newspaper travel supplement: "The Eurovision song contest is like the gay Olympics - and I say this with all my love. I'm really looking forward to the show in Vienna."
The 26-year-old drag queen will be taking an active role in this year's show, which takes place in Vienna, Austria on May 23, hosting the coverage in the green room.
Kathrin Zechner, from broadcaster ORF, said previously: "[Conchita] won the contest with her personality, voice and song for Austria. She did not take the first but the most powerful Austrian step in the fight for self-determination and respect in Europe and the world.
"The slogan of the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna is Building Bridges, which stands for bridges between countries, age groups, tradition and contemporary, supported by the pillars of respect and self-determination.
"For me it is important to make these powerful, society-shaping women visible to an audience of some 200 million Europeans in a show Austria can be proud of."

Christopher Eccleston believes acting needs more diversity

Christopher Eccleston gets frustrated by the lack of roles for women and "people of colour" in the acting world.
The former 'Doctor Who' star is disappointed that writers and directors don't create more substantial parts for other gender and ethnic groups and thinks the lack of diversity in TV and the theatre is a problem.
Eccleston, 51, told RadioTimes.com: "I confess I don't watch much film or television drama but I'm aware of the predominance of white, male roles. It's not just about the working class. There's not enough writing for women or people of colour. It frustrates me when they insist on doing all-male Shakespearean productions - a wonderful intellectual exercise, maybe, but it's outrageous because it's putting a lot of women out of work."
Eccleston is also concerned the arts in England are being shut off from working class people, and he thinks there are less and less opportunities for actors like him from modest backgrounds to break into the business.
The 'Safe House' star said: "I'm one of those actors they set up for a class rant. I still feel insecure, like a lot of my working-class contemporaries. I had a sense acting wasn't for me because I'm not educated. I was a skinny, awkward-looking bugger with an accent, as I still am. British society has always been based on inequality, particularly culturally. I've lived with it, but it's much more pronounced now, and it would be difficult for someone like me to come through. You can't blame Eddie Redmayne, Benedict Cumberbatch and others taking their opportunities but it will lead to a milky, anodyne culture. To an extent that's already happened."

Davina McCall joining This Morning

Davina McCall is to be the boss of a series of fitness and wellbeing items planned for April 27 on 'This Morning'.
The 47-year-old TV star will be taking charge of the segments to give viewers advice on how to stay focused ahead of summer.
Talking about her new fitness venture with ITV, Davina said: "I absolutely love 'This Morning' and to be able to spend an entire morning with Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden is going to be such a laugh. I hope to be able to bring lots of hints and tips on how to lead a happy, healthy life - brace yourself 'This Morning'!"
The former 'Big Brother' host will drop in and take over as Guest Editor to offer tips on the most effective exercises, stretches and tasty low calorie recipes to help viewers achieve the summer look and feel they want.
This Morning's editor Pete Ogden said: "We have fully embraced the launch of spring here at 'This Morning' and viewers will be provided with invaluable inspiration, tools and advice across the next few months to achieve a more positive, new and healthy outlook ahead of summer."
He added: "We are thrilled to have Davina here during this time too and I'm sure she will make a great guest editor - although not too great I hope!"
It's not surprise Davina looks good in her 40s, with all of the fitness DVDs and healthy eating cookbooks she has previously released.
The brunette star was proud to flaunt her figure during a recent vacation to Los Angeles, despite being surrounded by 20-something beauties and she insists she has a lot of confidence about her body now.
She revealed: "I'm 47 and hot! Of course I'm going to have a little bit of jelly belly, but I think I look great for my age. I feel more confident now than I did when I was 20. That's what health and fitness has done. Now I want other women to have that same confidence as me."

Gloria Hunniford’s hand crushed by falling angel

Gloria Hunniford's hand has been completely crushed by an angel.
Appearing on the 'Loose Women' panel today (20.04.15) with her hand in a cast, the 75-year-old TV presenter explained how a bronze angel statue she has in her house - which requires three men to lift - fell on her, as she tried to move it.
The weight of the ornament "completely crushed" the bone in her ring finger and the tendon is broken.
Speaking to her fellow panellists, Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan and Jane Moore, Gloria said: "It was stupidity on my part really. We have a couple of very tall angels. I love angels and this is the irony! They are made of bronze and it would take three men to lift one angel. It's really heavy and I stupidly thought I would waltz it across a couple of inches. A boy angel and a girl angel. It's the boy in this case that took me down ... It's one of those silly things. It's not like I was lifting them as I couldn't. I've moved them before. You have to take something good from something bad and had the angel (fallen) another way, I would have fallen back on my head and it would have crushed me right here (on my chest). So I'm lucky."
After getting injured, Gloria was taken to a plastic surgeon at East Grinstead Hospital, where she had a two-hour operation to repair her hand.
When she was asked by Jane how long her recovery would take, Gloria said: "Sadly four or five weeks ... I am right-handed as well. Would anyone like to help me dress and undress?"
Jane, 52, then suggested that Gloria should rename the statues 'Hell's Angels'.
Gloria replied: "I'll rename that one in particular!"

Ola Jordan not guaranteed Strictly return

Ola Jordan will be able to dance again after undergoing keyhole surgery on her knee - but is not guaranteed a place on 'Strictly Come Dancing.
The 32-year-old blonde star faced the potential end of her dancing career after suffering ligament damage on Channel 4's reality ski series 'The Jump'.
Ola - whose husband is former 'Strictly...' star James Jordan - has had positive news from medical experts, but BBC bosses are not yet going to commit to offering her a place back as a celebrity partner because they are angry she agreed to go on such a dangerous reality show.
A source told the Sunday People newspaper: "Show bosses believe it was irresponsible. After all the trouble they've had with her husband James they're considering whether it's worth having her back."
James, 37, left 'Strictly...' after the 2013 series after being told he would only be used as a dancer and not a celebrity partner for the 2014 run.
His exit was mired in bad feeling after he made the decision to attack the producers on social media.
Commenting on her Ola's 'Strictly...' status, a BBC spokesperson said: "Strictly's still over five months away, so no dancers are signed up yet.
"As soon as we have our dancer line-up confirmed, we will let viewers know."

BGT’s Henry Gallagher to ask girl out

'Britain's Got Talent' sensation Henry Gallagher is set to ask out his schoolgirl crush who he wrote his song about.
The 12-year-old musician was too shy to approach the girl who inspired his song 'Lightning', but getting four votes to go through from judges Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon on the ITV show on Saturday night (18.04.15) has given him the confidence boost he needed to ask for a date upon his return to school today (20.04.15).
Henry said: "Fingers crossed I'll get a date! Amanda Holden said I would get her within two seconds but I'm still a bit shy. Before I was like, 'No way'. Now I'm, 'Maybe.' Now I'm a lot more confident."
While the Wigan schoolboy hasn't named the girl in question yet, he has complimented her a lot, and wants to take her to the cinema for their first date.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Henry said: "Whenever I see her at school she's always in a good mood. I've never seen her be not happy. And she's just so pretty, it's amazing. Only my mum knows who it is. She's told me to ask her out. I'd like to take her to the cinema to watch something we'd both like."
Henry is now writing a follow-up song called 'Best Thing Ever', about how he would feel if he and his crush were dating.

Top of the Pops to return with Fearne Cotton and Dermot O’Leary hosting

'Top of the Pops' is reportedly set to return with Fearne Cotton and Dermot O'Leary hosting.
BBC executives are in discussions to resurrect the iconic weekly music TV series - famous for providing a rundown of the charts and featuring live performances - with a new format.
The plan is to air it on Friday nights in conjunction with the BBC Radio 1 chart show which has just moved from its traditional Sunday evening slot for Fridays in conjunction with a change in how the charts are compiled.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "'Top of the Pops' is a great brand name and the BBC are keen to use it. Some at the highest level are massive supporters of the plan and have given the go-ahead. The new Friday night charts could be the perfect tie-in - with 'Top of the Pops' a brilliant start to the weekend."
Bosses have identified Fearne - who is pregnant with her second child with husband Jesse Wood - and Dermot as their dream presenting duo.
Fearne, 33, previously hosted 'Top of the Pops' from 2004 until it was cancelled in 2006 due to a slump in single sales and is looking for new challenges since announcing she is leaving her BBC Radio 1 show.
Dermot, 41, has just walked away from 'The X Factor' after eight years fronting Simon Cowell's talent show and as he already hosts his own BBC Radio 2 show fronting the revamped 'TOTP' would be a natural progression.
The source added: "Dermot's departure from 'The X Factor' is another piece of the jigsaw. Teaming him with Fearne would be a brilliant move."
Although 'Top of the Pops' was taken off air in nine years ago the show still airs each Christmas and New Year, with both festive specials attracting high viewing numbers.
