Christopher Biggins: Cilla Black wouldn’t have wanted to suffer

Christopher Biggins thinks Cilla Black's death was "for the best".
The 66-year-old star was devastated when his friend passed away after a fall aged 72 almost three months ago but thinks she'd rather have died suddenly than struggled on with the health problems that were beginning to plague her.
He said: "Towards the end she was having problems with her hearing and eyesight and arthritis. She would have been the worst patient ever, God forbid anyone would have had to look after Cilla. She would have been angry.
"So I think absolutely the way that it happened was the best."
Christopher - who has mourned the passing of 60 friends in the last two years - admitted he is "struggling" to come to terms with Cilla's death.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I do struggle a bit. I went to ring her last week to invite her to come and see 'Kinky Boots' in the West End. I would say 'love you' at the end of our phone calls, she would say 'love you more'. We both used to laugh because it was so silly. But I really miss that, I really do."
Meanwhile, the actor revealed he has given up drinking after learning he had suffered liver damage caused by excessive alcohol consumption.
He said: "I was drinking two bottles of wine four or five nights a week. That's easy when you're out and there are trays of red and white.
"But the doctor turned to me and said do you want to die in your own bed in old age, or do you want to die in a hospital bed dribbling a whole lot sooner?
"It was instant. I didn't need to go to AA or anything, like friends have gone to. I just knew. That's when I thought I'm not going to let alcohol rule my life or take me away."

Jenny Bradley will still be manipulative

Jenny Bradley will be as "manipulative" as ever when she returns to 'Coronation Street'.
Rita Tanner's stepdaughter - who is played by Sally Ann Matthews - will be back in Weatherfield next year and though she initially shows remorse for kidnapping Kevin Webster's son Jack, it won't take long before she is back to her old self.
'Corrie' boss Stuart Blackburn told The Sun's TV Soap supplement: "When Rita comes across Jenny, she is very broken and full of guilt.
"Rita still looks on her as a daughter and, despite the protestations from everyone around her, she gives her a roof over her head.
"There's a period of healing for Jenny, but bit by bit, as we reboot and rebuild, the Jenny of old, who was manipulative and ambitious, is going to return..."
Sally Ann previously revealed she had received death threats over Jenny's previous return plots, which also saw fans blame her for Maddie Heath's death.
She said: "One of the most chilling said, 'I hope you die - you evil bitch.'
"We didn't have Twitter in the old days - people just occasionally shouted at you in the street.
"Basically people thought Jenny was weird and then they blamed her for Maddie's death. But the episode when I slapped Maria Connor was when it all really kicked off on Twitter.
"There were some pretty dramatic reactions. When you read them one after another it's quite overwhelming - people sitting on sofas in the comfort of their own home sending out the vilest things.
"It is so weird - these people hate you because you are playing a horrible character."

Anthony Ogogo voted off Strictly

Anthony Ogogo has been voted off 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The Olympic boxer has become the second celebrity to leave the BBC One dance competition and admitted he found it difficult to compete against other stars who have had previous dance training.
Anthony, 26, said: "I felt really gutted, I did feel really devastated and upset. I've never danced.
"When you're up against Jay McGuinness who's done ballet, and Helen George who's done ballet and Peter Andre who's been a pop star for as long as I've been alive, it's very, very hard to beat all those guys. I think it's hard to do well."
Anthony and his professional partner, Oti Mabuse, left the show on Sunday (11.10.15) after losing the dance off to Ainsley Harriott and Natalie Lowe.
But Anthony insisted he was happy the reality TV chef had gone through as they had become good friends during the competition.
He tweeted: "I love Ainsley, he was like my Strictly dad. Caring, considerate, funny and just damn awesome. Couldn't have lost to a better gentleman.
"The standard was unreal and lets be honest. I'm not the best. Lol. (sic)."
While Anthony enjoyed working with judge Darcey Bussell, who praised him as too good to leave in week three, he had harsh words for Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.
He said: "I think get Len, Craig and Bruno in the ring, I'll take them all on together."

Great British Bake Off stars can ‘name their price’

Stars of the 'Great British Bake Off' will be able to "name their price" with the show's contract set to come up for renewal.
The BBC's three-year deal with the show comes to an end at the conclusion of next year's series, meaning the likes of Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry will be in position to ask for a substantial increase on their current deals, which are reportedly worth around £500,000 per series.
A source at an unnamed rival channel said: "'Bake Off' is the hottest show on TV by miles - it's worth at least £20 million to a broadcaster and everyone would love it on their channel.
"So Paul and Mary can name their price when it comes to sorting out their new contract."
The BBC's efforts to renew the deal are complicated by the fact that the firm behind the show, Love Production, was bought last year by rival Sky.
A TV insider told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "Sky is one of Britain's most successful businesses for a reason.
"Clearly they've spotted the success of Love, and 'The Great British Bake Off' is the biggest part of that - so they'll be expecting a significant return on their very large investment."

Sherrie Hewson kept cancer scare secret for financial reasons

Sherrie Hewson chose to keep quiet about her cancer scare for financial reasons.
The 65-year-old actress recently revealed she entered the 'Celebrity Big Brother' House thinking she may have cancer, but she opted to keep quiet for the benefit of her family.
She shared: "It has been a terrifying time and although nobody knew, I never stopped thinking about my scare in the house, even though I was too scared to talk about it.
"I figured that if I did have cancer, I wouldn't be able to work and look after my family, so I took the risk."
The former 'Coronation Street' star admitted her decision was "stupid", even though the lump turned out to be a cyst, and has urged people to get themselves checked out if they notice any abnormalities with their bodies.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "I did something very stupid and dangerous and I want to say, 'Please, don't follow me. Go to the doctor without hesitation. Let somebody examine you'.
"It's so frightening and I was terrified but you can't put your head in the sand. Learn a lesson from me and tell somebody."

Rita Ora hits back at Louis Walsh’s criticism

Rita Ora has accused Louis Walsh of being "a little burnt" after being overlooked for this year's 'X Factor'.
The 24-year-old singer has come to the defence of Nick Grimshaw, whose judging performances have been criticised by the Irish music mogul, suggesting Louis' recent remarks are the result of jealousy.
Rita said, sarcastically: "I think someone's just a little bit burnt they lost their chair. It's OK Louis, I'll rub your feet you if you want. It's OK."
Rita also defended Nick's judging talents, saying he has "great ears" for pop music.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "Let me tell you something - he's a hard worker and he has great taste and great ears.
"He may not be able to physically stand on stage and sing a song but you don't need to. He's one of the important hands that plays the songs that you guys get introduced to on the radio."
By contrast, Louis said last month that fans of the show may prefer to see him replace Nick.
He said: "I'm not sure about Grimshaw. I haven't seen much of him. People don't like change and I think they miss Dermot [O'Leary] and maybe some people miss me."

Olly Murs and Caroline Flack miss Xtra Factor fun

Olly Murs and Caroline Flack miss the "fun" of 'The Xtra Factor'.
The presenting duo now host the main 'X Factor' show and current spin-off hosts Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom feel lucky they don't have to be as serious on the ITV2 programme.
Melvin said: "If anything, Olly and Caroline remind us how lucky we are, because I think on the main show it's all about the talent.
"With us, we're there to have fun and do silly things.
"I think they probably miss the fun they had on 'The Xtra Factor'."
Rochelle added: "They've had to be a bit more serious, haven't they?"
The pair also admitted they are both so critical of themselves, they refused to watch their 'Xtra Factor' debut with anyone else.
Melvin said: "When the first show went out. I had to watch it by myself."
Rochelle added: "All of our friends and family wanted to come to our houses and we were like, 'No!' I didn't even watch it with my husband."
Rochelle is married to former JLS singer Marvin Humes - with whom she has two-year-old daughter Alaia-Mai - and she admitted she frequently gets his name muddled up with her co-host's.
She told heat magazine: "If I'm nagging [Melvin], I#l call him Marvin and if I'm nagging MArvin, I'll call him Melvin."
And the DJ also frequently gets called Marvin when he's spotted in the street.
He said: "I get called Marvin in the street, I don't mind that. I'm like, 'JLS was a good time for me.' "

Simon Cowell: Louis Walsh is the UK’s most popular person

Simon Cowell thinks Louis Walsh is the "most popular person" in the UK.
The 56-year-old music mogul has asked Louis, 63, to return as a judge on 'The X Factor', having originally been overlooked for the current series - and Simon says the reaction of the public has boosted Louis' ego.
He said: "I spoke to Louis and I said, 'I don't know what has happened but you are suddenly the most popular person in the country'. And he said, 'I don't know'.
"I can't explain it. I think people obviously miss him. For Louis' sake it has been good for him not being on the show and seeing how much people like him."
However, Simon also admitted the judging panel had become a bit stale and that a shake-up was needed in order to breathe new life into the show.
He said: "I think it also woke him up a bit. He was the first to say - and me as well - that I don't think we were totally on top of our game.
"If he gets the chance to do another show like this I think he will be a lot more confident."

Gemma Collins considered ‘too vulnerable’ for jungle return

Gemma Collins is considered too vulnerable to return to 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!'.
The 34-year-old TV personality - who left last year's edition of the programme after just three days - had been persuaded by show bosses to make a much-anticipated return, but following the mandatory psychological tests for contestants, it was decided she shouldn't re-enter the jungle environment.
A source shared: "Gemma is gutted because she was desperate to give it another go.
"She's in the best shape of her life but docs feared another repeat of last year's early exit.
"Despite losing weight and brimming with confidence, they felt she still wasn't strong enough to cope with the demands."
Despite this, show bosses remain keen for the blonde star to be involved with the programme in some capacity, with the insider telling The Sun newspaper they "think she's TV gold".
During the 2014 edition of the show, Gemma arrived in the Australian jungle and quickly declared: "I'm not cut out for this."
She subsequently feared she had malaria and felt so traumatised by the experience that she threatened to quit showbiz forever.
