Tomb Raider concert for London

A ‘Tomb Raider’ concert is to be held in London to celebrate 20 years of the franchise.
‘Tomb Raider – Live in Concert’ will take place at Hammersmith Apollo, west London, on December 18, and several themes from the iconic game will be played by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and conducted by Robert Ziegler.
The show will coincide with the world premiere of the Tomb Raider Suite – a project that sees game’s first three soundtracks re-recorded by an orchestra at Abbey Road Studios – from the title’s original composer Nathan McCree.
The original game was released in October 1996 and follows the exploits of archaeologist adventurer Lara Croft.
Lara was portrayed by Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie in two movie versions of the game, ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ in 2001, and its sequel ‘The Cradle of Life’ in 2003.
At the London-based event, images of the game’s 20-year history featured on a giant screen in the venue above the orchestra.
A post on the Apollo’s website states: "Tomb Raider – Live In Concert promises to be the games music event of the year, a unique musical and visual experience celebrating one of the greatest and most popular games ever created."
Following the release of the ‘Tomb Raider’ game in October 1996, there have been several other games in the series including ‘Tomb Raider II’ (1997), Tomb Raider III (1998), ‘The Last Revelation’ (1999) and ‘Tomb Raider Chronicles’ (2000).
