Timothée Chalamet on whether he is the mystery rapper EsDeeKid

Timothée Chalamet has commented on whether he is the viral UK rapper EsDeeKid.

The Marty Supreme star is rumoured to be the Liverpudlian artist as fans believe his love of hip-hop, the fact he used to rap under the moniker Lil Timmy Tim, and a close-up of the mystery artist’s eyes being the spitting image of Chalamet, is enough to link him to the rapper.

Appearing on Heart FM, he was asked if the rumours are true, to which he coyly replied: “I’ve got no comment on that.”

He swiftly followed up: “I got two words on that…”

Chalamet then teased that “all will be revealed in due time”.

The rumours began after EsDeeKid dropped his debut album, Rebel, in June.

He covers his face with a balaclava and has not disclosed his name or age, just that he hails from Liverpool and still lives in a council house. His songs have racked up millions upon millions of streams, with the track Phantom featuring Rico Ace having been listened to more than 90 million times on Spotify. Rebel even reached number 16 in the Official UK Albums Chart.

The rapper is embarking on a tour of North American and Australia next year, and will also perform in London at Outbreak Fest 2026.

As it stands, Chalamet has Dune: Part Three (Dune: Messiah) coming out in 2026. He’s also attached to James Mangold’s High Side, which would see him play a MotoGP racer. Whether his filming schedule is free enough to play the above shows remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, the Hollywood star is set to receive the Spotlight Actor of the Year Award at the upcoming Palm Springs International Film Festival, recognising his acclaimed performance in Marty Supreme.

The honour will be presented during the festival’s prestigious Film Awards ceremony on January 3 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The wider festival runs from January 2 to January 12, drawing filmmakers and stars from across the globe.

Festival Chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi praised Chalamet’s work in Marty Supreme, describing it as a career-defining achievement. He noted that Chalamet’s portrayal of Marty Mauser captures both the intensity of ambition and the vulnerability of human longing, calling it one of the year’s most memorable performances.

Chandi said: “In Marty Supreme, Timothée Chalamet delivers a performance which marks a true milestone in his career.

“Within a dynamic struggle for glory, Chalamet’s portrayal of Marty Mauser transforms this narrative into a deeply human story of ambition and longing. This is one of his finest roles to date — and one of the best standout performances of the year, sure to be celebrated throughout the awards season. We are honoured to present Timothée Chalamet with the Spotlight Actor of the Year Award, recognising a remarkable artist at the height of his craft.”
