The Strokes confirm work on sixth album

The Strokes’ Nick Valensi has confirmed they are working on a new album.
The 35-year-old guitarist says the group are in the "early stages" of writing for their first full-length since 2013’s ‘Comedown Machine’ and are tucked away in a studio in New York.
Speaking to DIY magazine, he shared: "We are slowly but surely working on an album. I don’t know when it’s going to be released, we’re kind of just in writing sessions. We’re writing. I’m actually in New York at the moment, at a studio in New York for that."
The ‘Last Nite’ hitmakers – also comprised of Julian Casablancas, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti – unveiled new single ‘Threat of Joy’ earlier this year, and at the time, frontman Julian hinted that the indie rock band would tour if they record their sixth album.
He said: "I don’t think there’s anything planned, but, I mean, we always do stuff.
"No specific news, sorry. It’s never… I feel like we play every year or two years or something like that. I think the idea was if we can get our stuff together to do a record, we can do more proper tours."
But the 37-year-old singer admitted he is "in a bubble" and tries to avoid the commercial side of the group’s music once it has been recorded.
When asked if it felt good to release music again, he replied: "I mean, sure, I don’t know. I’m in a bubble. I don’t know, I try not to pay attention. I worked on it and it’s done. I don’t, like, check the internet or anything."
