The Stone Roses to unveil first new song for 21 years

The Stone Roses are to unveil their new single on Thursday night (12.05.16) – their first fresh music for 21 years.
The Manchester indie legends – singer Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield and drummer Alan ‘Reni’ Wren – have been busy recording a new album for the last several months and fans will finally get to hear the first song from the eagerly anticipated LP.
A Twitter post made on the official Stone Roses account read: "THE STONE ROSES WILL RELEASE A NEW SINGLE TONIGHT AT 8PM (sic)"
Anticipation had been building that the band would be making a major statement this week after giant posters of lemons – the group’s insignia – began appearing in Manchester, North West England.
The track is the first new studio material from The Stone Roses since the B-sides ‘Moses’ and ‘Ride On’ which were included on the single ‘Ten Storey Love Song’ taken from their second album ‘Second Coming’ released in March 1995.
The Stone Roses reunited in 2012 and their two massive concerts at Heaton Park in Manchester were attended by 150,000 people.
The foursome promised new material when they confirmed they were getting back together and this year they have been recording at producer Paul Epworth’s studio in north London.
When previously asked how the album was coming along, Ian said "glorious".
The Stone Roses are to play a series of summer shows at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium next month and they will also travel to Dublin and New York for concerts, as well as headlining the T in The Park festival in Scotland.
