The Stone Roses dedicate song to David Beckham

The Stone Roses dedicated ‘This Is The One’ to David Beckham at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night (15.06.16).
The former Manchester United footballer was joined by his son Brooklyn at the concert and was wowed by the legendary rockers, who performed at rivals Manchester City’s ground, as they mentioned him before singing the 1989 song.
The 41-year-old retired sports star shared a video of the moment on his Instagram.
In the clip, frontman Ian Brown says: "This song is dedicated to Mr. Beckham."
He also shared a picture of himself and his son in the crowd.
He captioned it: "Wow what a night that I could spend with just another Roses fan that happens to be my boy (sic)"
The pair were lucky enough to get to meet the band backstage after their set.
Brooklyn, 17, posted a picture of David and the band – comprised of singer Ian, guitarist John Squire, bassist Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield and drummer Alan ‘Reni’ Wren – along with the caption: "With the ladz (sic)"
The ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ hitmakers performed their first of four shows at the stadium and debuted their new songs ‘All for One’ and ‘Beautiful Thing’, as well as, playing fan favourites such as ‘I Am the Resurrection’ and ‘Fools Gold’.
They were supported by Blossoms, Public Enemy and Chronixx.
Blossoms found it "surreal" supporting for their idols.
The indie pop band – comprised of Tom Ogden, Joe Donovan, Charlie Salt, Josh Dewhurst and Myles Kellock – felt honoured to not only support the legendary Manchester-based group at the Etihad Stadium, but to get to perform at their favourite football team, Manchester City’s ground.
Speaking after their set, frontman Tom said: "Being on stage was surreal. Part of me couldn’t wait for it to finish so that we could get off and see the Roses."
And drummer Joe added: "We’re Manchester City fans. I saw Sergio Aguero’s goal that won us the Premiere League here. For us to be playing at City’s ground, that’s special."
The Stone Roses will play a further three shows at the Etihad Stadium from Friday (17.06.16) to Sunday (19.06.16).
