Taylor Swift thanks Ed Sheeran for tea at BRIT Awards

Taylor Swift thanked Ed Sheeran for teaching her to make "a good cup of tea", as she accepted the award for International Female Solo Artist at last night’s (25.02.15) BRIT Awards with MasterCard.

The ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker beat Lana Del Rey, Beyoncé, Sia and St Vincent to the crown to be honoured with her first BRIT Award.

Accepting the gong from ‘Love Me Like You Do’ hitmaker Ellie Goulding and Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton, she said: "I’ve been coming to England and playing shows for eight years and this is my first BRIT Award; I’m so happy!…

"Honestly, I know I wouldn’t be up here if it wasn’t for one of my best friends who took me to pubs and taught me how to make a good cup of tea and taught me everything I know about the UK.

"I just want to say, ‘I love you Ed Sheeran.’"

She also thanked her loyal supporters, insisting she felt very "lucky" to be in the position she was.

She added: "I am very lucky to have the British fans who have changed my life. I love you.

"And I am very lucky to have my first BRIT Award. Thank you so much."

The 25-year-old singer kicked off proceedings earlier in the evening with a performance of her hit track, ‘Blank Space’.

Despite feeling incredibly blessed, Taylor later admitted she should "calm down".

She told BANG Showbiz: "I’m way too excited about it; I need to calm down. It’s been the most amazing slow build love affair with England and the UK.

"Starting out playing King’s College and getting ready eight years later to play sold out Hyde Park is like, ‘What?’ So this first BRIT Award couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s amazing."
