Taylor Swift for Radio 1’s Big Weekend


Taylor Swift will headline BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

The ‘Blank Space’ hitmaker is the first act confirmed for the annual festival, which will take place at Earlham Park in Norwich, south east England.

Speaking about her excitement over attending her first UK festival, she said: "Everyone talks about the festivals in England being the best ones you can go to. I feel like I’ve been missing out – I’m really excited."

The 25-year-old star also said she is keen to experience the crowds in Norwich because she always finds British fans to be "insane".

She continued: "They are rowdy, insane, in the best way – there seems to be a lot of jumping, which I love."

The seven-time Grammy Award winner will perform at the event – which is Europe’s largest free ticketed music event – when it takes place on May 23 and 24, with the other acts yet to be announced.

Last year’s event took place in Glasgow, Scotland, with One Direction, Coldplay and Katy Perry among the high-profile performers.

Confirmation the ‘Shake It Off’ will sing at the event comes just a month after her pal Ed Sheeran insisted she would never play at a festival because she always likes to be "in control" of her performances.

He said: "Taylor doesn’t like festivals.

"So for any bookies reading… I think Taylor likes doing her own show because she’s in control and it’s how she wants it to be."
