Tamzin Outhwaite ’emotional’ after EastEnders exit

Tamzin Outhwaite was "too emotional" to engage with ‘EastEnders’ fans as Mel Owen bowed out of the soap last night (14.11.19).
The crafty club owner was tragically killed off in Thursday night’s dramatic episode when she was run over by a lorry, just minutes after surviving a near-fatal car crash.
Afterwards, Tamzin wrote on Twitter: "Thank you all … tonight thankfully I’m busy as I’m too emotional to address any @bbceastenders messages tonight… but [prayer emoji] (sic)"
And earlier in the day, the former ‘New Tricks’ star admitted she found it "a little bit upsetting" to film the car smash stunt.
Speaking in a behind the scenes video on EastEnders’ Twitter account, she said: "This stunt that we’re doing right now is a little bit upsetting.
"Because it looks to me like there’s no way in the world that Mel can survive this."
Earlier this week, Tamzin thanked her ‘EastEnders’ co-star Lucy Benjamin (Lisa Fowler) for supporting her "so much" after she experienced a "few tricky months".
She wrote on Twitter: "When women support each other, wonderful things happen & although I haven’t caught the last few episodes of @bbceastenders I can honestly say this friend has been texting, calling, supporting me so much over the last few tricky months @Lucy_Benjamin thank you so much (sic)"
Tamzin has also thanked EastEnders’ loyal supporters for their positive messages this week.
She tweeted: "I’m catching up on 3 episode’s tomorrow,& although I know what happens, your messages & responses are telling me I’m in for a treat( I did watch a couple of scenes tonight in between kids bath & bed & was blown away! ) I really can’t wait. Thank you all so much. (sic)"
Tamzin – who reprised her role as Mel in 2018 after 16 years away – filmed her final scenes on ‘EastEnders’ in September, after making the decision earlier this year to leave the BBC One soap to "pursue other challenges".
