Tamzin Outhwaite ‘couldn’t feel more proud’ of EastEnders work

Tamzin Outhwaite "couldn’t feel more proud" of her work on ‘EastEnders’.
The 49-year-old star’s character Mel Owen – who first stepped foot in Walford in 1998 – was tragically killed off on last night’s (14.11.19) episode of the BBC One soap when she was run over by a lorry after surviving a car crash, but Tamzin is now looking to the future.
Taking to Twitter today (15.11.19), she wrote: "Right … brand new day
Thank you so much for all the love…
I could not have relished playing Mel any more and I could not feel more proud.
Here’s to the next 21 years of life, the next job, the next chapter.
Happy Friday people. (sic)"
And Tamzin – who reprised her role as Mel in 2018 after 16 years away – has hinted she could now turn her hand to TV presenting.
Her pal Lucy Alexander – who previously co-hosted ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ – tweeted her saying: "Right… now get you’re co-presenter head on baby.. time for some tv fun with meeeeee. (sic)"
Tamzin then replied: "Ooh yes … ok… call ya later @LucyAlexanderTV … (sic)"
The former ‘Hotel Babylon’ star’s tweets come just 13 hours after she admitted she was "too emotional" to engage with ‘EastEnders’ fans after last night’s episode.
She tweeted: "Thank you all … tonight thankfully I’m busy as I’m too emotional to address any @bbceastenders messages tonight… but [prayer emoji] (sic)"
And earlier in the day, the former ‘New Tricks’ star admitted she found it "a little bit upsetting" to film the car smash stunt.
Speaking in a behind the scenes video on EastEnders’ Twitter account, she said: "This stunt that we’re doing right now is a little bit upsetting.
"Because it looks to me like there’s no way in the world that Mel can survive this."
