Tamera Foster and Sam Callahan split

Former ‘X Factor’ stars Tamera Foster and Sam Callahan have split up.

The couple began dating after meeting on the show last year but 17-year-old Tamera is now said to have called it quits so she can focus on her music career.

A source said: "Tamera had strong feelings for Sam, but she is also very ambitious.

"It wasn’t her intention to hurt him, but she knew it was time to move on.

"Sam is moving on with his career and is still very ambitious so it just wasn’t going to work."

Despite coming in fifth place in the 2013 series of the ITV talent show – which was won by Sam Bailey – Tamera was offered a contract with Simon Cowell’s record company Syco, while her 20-year-old boyfriend was left to pave his own way in the music industry.

And although Tamera stood by her beau after it was revealed he’d been sending flirty messages to a glamour model last year, she’s now said to have been persuaded to end the relationship to distance herself from her time on the show as Syco attempt to launch her career.

The brunette beauty recently teased fans with news of her upcoming music on Twitter.

She wrote: "messege to all of my fans ! Thank you for being so patient, I’m taking my time so I can give you the best ! I won’t let you down 2015 (sic)."
