Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan’s ‘arranged marriage’

Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ partnership is like an "arranged marriage without the good bits".
The presenting pair have co-hosted the morning show for two-and-a-half years, despite Susanna joking she didn’t want to work with the 53-year-old journalist after teaming up with him on ‘GMB’ for an initial one-week experiment.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, Piers said: "It’s like being in an arranged marriage. We didn’t really know each other and we got put together for one week of experiment."
Susanna interjected: "And after that I said, ‘No thanks.’ "
Piers continued: "She said, ‘Do not put him anywhere near me again.’ Then two-and-a-half years later … it’s like an arranged marriage without the good bits."
The pair are set to host a special one-off ‘Good Evening Britain’ show on Thursday night (28.06.18) after England’s World Cup clash with Belgium, and Susanna is concerned about how "psychopath" Piers might act after a couple of drinks.
She said: "Imagine … before 9am he’s a psychopath. What is he going to be after nine o’clock in the evening after a beer or two?"
Earlier in the morning (26.06.18) on ‘GMB’, Piers went on a rant about beating rival show ‘BBC Breakfast’ in the ratings, admitting he wants to "destroy" the news programme.
He said: "I think it’s important to want to win, to look at BBC Breakfast and think, ‘I want to destroy them, I want to dismantle them, I want to wreck them.
"’I want to tear into their ratings like a vulture when it descends on a rotting carcass and starts to pull its innards out and then eat them raw.’ I just imagine it’s Dan Walker’s innards."
Susanna told him: "You are so obsessed with him, let it go. I think you’re some sort of psychopath."
He added: "Maybe I am a psychopath but I want to win."
But she replied: "I’ve never worked with anyone quite as nightmarish as you."
