Stormzy performs at fan’s father’s funeral

Stormzy performed at a fan’s father’s funeral on Thursday (21.12.17).
The 24-year-old rapper has been hailed a hero after he sung Nas Bockarie’s late dad’s favourite song ‘Blinded By Your Grace’ during the service – believed to be in Reading in Southern England – after the young man reached out to him on Twitter.
In a tweet sent to the grime star on December 15, Nas said: "Bro my dad passed away on the day of my graduation last week Friday. Our favourite song of yours was blinded by your grace. Would love it if you could preform this at his funeral next Thursday 21st December. Don’t worry if you can’t, I just thought I’d try my luck (sic)"
Stormzy replied less than 48 hours later and said: "Follow me so I can dm ya."
To which Nas wrote: "All done bro! I’m actually speechless, praise god for humanity."
The newly-qualified PE teacher uploaded a video of Stormzy – whose real name is Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo, Jr. – speaking at the funeral yesterday.
In the clip, the ‘Big For Your Boots’ hitmaker said: "I just want to say it’s an honour to be here today and do my bit to make this service special. Big up Nas for having me."
He then broke out into his new single ‘Blinded By Your Grace’ as a photograph of Nas’ father flashed up on the screen behind him.
Naz’s cousin Mariama told the BBC: "Family events for us are very special, whether it be a funeral or wedding. We try to find the positive out of everything and that can be hard at funerals, especially with younger family members. We did the best to give my uncle a memorable send-off and of course Stormzy really made that happen. We’re so grateful and our family will be praying for him always."
