Stephen King’s The Stand delayed for Revival

A movie adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’ has been delayed in favour of his latest novel ‘Revival’.

‘The Fault In Our Stars’ director Josh Boone has been attached to the project since it was announced that the author’s longest and most famous thriller – which was first published in 1978 and was his fourth book – would be transferred to the big screen.

But now the filmmaker has pushed back its production and will instead bring King’s 2014 book to life.

What’s more, King and Boone have already set to work on the screenplay for ‘Revival’.

The story follows a preacher whose faith is shattered when his wife and child are killed in a tragic accident and he consequently loses his moral conscience.

Now an unhinged member of society, he positions himself as a God-like faith healer, which opens a terrifying Pandora’s Box in the community, and experiments with the dangerous but healing power of electricity.

And a young man with demons of his own becomes the deadly preacher’s reluctant accomplice.

The film version of ‘The Stand’ – which is about a pandemic caused by a weaponised form of influenza – is still scheduled to be made.
