Sian Clifford says Fleabag’s haircut scene was a ‘nightmare’

Sian Clifford hated filming her infamous haircut scene in ‘Fleabag’.

The 38-year-old actress – who played Claire, Fleabag’s sister, in the hit comedy-drama series – has revealed she didn’t enjoy shooting the memorable scene in the second season of the show, when her character unveiled her terrible haircut.

Asked how she feels about watching herself on screen, Sian shared: "It depends on the project and it depends how many times I’ve watched it, honestly.

"Like with ‘Fleabag’, it’s kind of weird because there’s loads of stuff I’m deeply ashamed of."

Asked whether she was referring to her character’s infamous hairstyle, Sian told a BAFTA comedy performance panel: "That scene in particular, that was like, only our third day on set, and that was my second day filming, and it was a nightmare to film that scene.

"And so, that’s very strange for me, the response that it’s had because I just did not have a good experience making that particular moment. It’s hard, isn’t it?

"I do sort of feel in some way, divorced from that character because I’m so different to her, I think, and so I’m able to kind of just watch the show as a whole and forget I’m in it in some way."

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the show’s creator, recently revealed she hopes to work with the ‘Fleabag’ cast again.

The 35-year-old actress wrote both series of the comedy-drama show, and although she doesn’t wish to make a third season, Phoebe remains keen to reunite with some of the programme’s stars.

Asked whether she intends to make another series of the acclaimed show, Phoebe replied: "No. I think we have to let her go, she’s exhausted. She’s been through a lot.

"But we’re all going to work together again, so there will be something of the ‘Fleabag’ spirit to come back."
