Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow are determined to appear cordial for the sake of their children.
The Coldplay frontman and the Oscar-winning actress jetted off to Eleuthera in the Bahamas with their daughter Apple, nine, and son Moses, seven, shortly before announcing their split on Tuesday (25.03.14), but eyewitnesses claim there is definitely still "some tension" between the former couple.
An insider told Us Weekly magazine: "When only Gwyneth and Chris are together, there appears to be some tension. But when the kids are with them, they appear to be one big happy family with no cares in the world."
The source added: "(They) will try to make it as easy as possible (for their kids). The whole plan is to do this as amicably as possible."
The 41-year-old actress and the 37-year-old British singer are renting a private beachfront villa that costs $7,500 weekly, and have been spotted playing on the beach and horseback riding with their "happy and playful" children.
But the insider added: "There are no signs of any PDA, holding hands, or kissing on the beach. There was definitely a noticeable intimate distance."
A second source hinted the vacation has nothing to do with the pair's desire to remain friends, saying: "They left town just before releasing the statement to avoid the media frenzy."

Liam Neeson quit drinking last year.
The 61-year-old actor has revealed he made the conscious decision to ditch alcohol after he realised he had been boozing "too much" since the death of his wife Natasha Richardson, following a skiing accident in Montreal, Canada in March 2009.
The 'Non-Stop' star told the April issue of GQ magazine: "I was drinking too much. It started since my wife died.
"Never at work, never would do it like that, but this time of night? Sitting with you, I'd easily have--I'd be on my second bottle. Before we finished, I would have been halfway down a third."
The Northern Irish actor also claimed he was filming a sex scene for Woody Allen's movie 'Husbands and Wives' in 1992 when the director's affair with his then-girlfriend Mia Farrow's adopted daughter first broke.
He said: "There was one incident -- people think I've made this up, but no. There's a scene where I'm [performing a sex act] on Judy Davis, right. Judy and I are in bed -- obviously covered up ... the crew are all ready, and we're waiting for Woody. No-show. It's starting to get a bit uncomfortable.
"Anyway, he came out after about 20 minutes ... there was no apology, nothing. What happened, his lawyer had gotten in touch with him to say Ms Farrow has found naked photographs of her adopted daughter [Soon-Yi]."
The 'Taken 2' star formed a close friendship with Mia in the 90s and recalled meeting up with her and Natasha in Ireland a few months later.
He said: "We had a couple of Guinnesses one night, and I told [Farrow] I was going to marry this woman."

Zac Efron's bodyguard claims the actor saved his life.
The 26-year-old star was hit in the face after getting into a "full-blown" bust-up in a "very bad area" of downtown Los Angeles shortly after midnight on Sunday (23.03.14), but his bodyguard insists the 'High School Musical' star only stepped into the brawl to defend him.
The security man, who asked to remain anonymous, told gossip website TMZ.com that he and Zac were "cruising" around LA on their way to a restaurant in Little Tokyo when they ran out of gas and were "attacked" by three men.
He claims the transients went after him with "a spear" and that Zac, who went to rehab twice last year for cocaine addiction, got out of the car and began swinging a vodka bottle to fend off the attack and saved his life.
The hunky star previously told police officers they had run out of gas and were sitting in their car for a tow truck when he threw a bottle out of the window and it smashed on the pavement near their alleged attackers.
He said the three men confronted them because they believed the bottle had been deliberately thrown at them and two of them then attacked the bodyguard, and according to the star, he got hit on the mouth when he got out of the car to help.
Zac said: "It was the hardest I've ever been hit in my life."
But his bodyguard, who reportedly has a criminal record for drugs and violence, insists the actor didn't throw the bottle at all and merely used it to defend them.
Police sources said no one was arrested because they viewed it as "mutual combat."
A spokesperson for the actor - who broke his jaw last November following a fall at home - has not yet commented on the incident.

Patrick Stewart used to hide from bailiffs as a child.
The 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' actor claims keeping out of sight of debt collectors became a big "game" when he was a child because he was too young to realise his mother was suffering serious financial difficulties at the time.
Patrick told the April/May issue of AARP Magazine: "Some of my earliest memories are of when a bill collector came to the door. My mother and I would hide behind the sofa and pretend we weren't in. I thought that was a great game."
The 73-year-old actor admits he still makes very sensible purchases even though his former cast mates wanted him to splurge his first big paycheque on more expensive items.
Patrick explained: "During the second 'Star Trek' season, I bought a new car, excitedly drove it onto the lot, and all the other cast members asked, 'What did you get?' I said, 'A Honda!' They all threw up their arms and rolled their eyes."
Despite growing up in poverty, Patrick was able to put a positive spin on his past struggles.
He mused: "I realised I could use those feelings and not only would nothing bad happen, but quite good things might happen."

Joan Rivers has called Lena Dunham "fat".
The 'Fashion Police' host was less than complimentary about the 'Girls' star's sense of style, claiming the actress shouldn't wear short skirts because it sends out a message that it's "OK" to be overweight.
Speaking on shock jock Howard Stern's Sirius XM radio show, Joan ranted: "Lena Dunham, who I think is again terrific, how can she wear dresses above the knee?"
Howard replied: "Well, I think the thing we love about her is that she doesn't give a s**t ... She did a whole [Girls] episode in a bikini. It was the funniest f**king thing I ever saw."
His co-anchor added: "And it think that's what she's going for: Just because I don't look like a bikini girl, I want a bikini."
However, Joan bit back, saying: "But that's wrong. You're sending a message out to people saying, 'It's OK! Stay fat! Get diabetes. Everybody die. Lose your fingers.' "
Realising that the radio presenters weren't going to agree with her controversial opinions, the 80-year-old legend insisted that Lena could at least make more of an effort.
She scathingly said: "If you look the way you look, Lena, and that's fine and you're funny, don't say it's OK that other girls can look like this ... Try to look better."
Joan also couldn't resist taking one last dig about the 27-year-old comedienne's recent VOGUE cover, which has been accused of being excessively Photoshopped.
She quipped: "She was on VOGUE's cover looking gorgeous. You didn't know it was her."
Nevertheless, the E! News presenter insisted she was a fan of the talented and "funny" star.
Lena's constant nudity on the HBO show has been in the headlines over the course of its third series, with some questioning the point of her near-naked scenes.

Harry Styles agreed to lend £5,000 to a singer he barely knew.
The One Direction singer - who is worth an estimated £15 million - was the victim of a radio prank by his friend Nick Grimshaw and The 1975 star Matt Healy, who he has met just a few times in the past.
As part of the Call or Delete game on Nick's BBC Radio One show, Matt reluctantly first tried to call Harry's bandmate Niall Horan, but when he didn't get through he rang the curly-haired hunk instead.
After Harry answered and asked if Matt was OK, he replied: "Sorry I've never rung you before now, I was just wondering, this is going to sound ridiculous, I need £5,000 and I'm in Chalk Farm, I know it sounds ridiculous but it is a serious situation, I'm in a phone booth and a bloke is pointing to a picture of Mark Owen, it's actually quite threatening.
"Do you reckon you could get Niall to give me a ring and see if he can come sort me some cash?"
Despite the bizarre story, the 'Little Things' singer was quick to reassure Matt, saying: "OK, well we're in Bristol. But let me go and I'll get my assistant to call you and she'll sort it out."
After hanging up the call, the 'Chocolate' singer admitted he was worried about what Harry would think of him.
He said: "He must think that I am so mental, I have never spoken to him in my life, I think I had a panic attack."

Jennifer Aniston says transcendental meditation keeps her looking young.
The 'Cake' actress is renowned for her radiant skin and beautiful hair, but says the thing that's helped her keep her looks best is the mantra meditation technique pioneered by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the 50s.
When asked what the number one thing which has kept her looking so amazing is, Jennifer replied: "I'd say a little over a year ago I started doing TM [transcendental meditation] and that's really changed everything. Starting your day off with that and ending with that is pretty powerful. Twenty minutes, you just notice the difference. When I get lazy and don't get it in, I can feel a difference. I do it first thing when I wake up."
As well as her daily meditation sessions, Jennifer, 45, also sticks to a strict beauty regime, and she won't break her routine for anyone.
She added to the new issue of People magazine: "I bring everything [on vacation]. The best I can do of course. You have to. Especially with travelling, you have to keep your skin hydrated and moisturised. The regime is pretty simple too. You can't overcomplicate."
Jennifer has also got her fiancé Justin Theroux involved in her beauty regime and has revealed the pair have "Sunday night facials" together.
The 'Horrible Bosses 2' star explained: "We've had a Sunday night facial together. Many times. Its very romantic. He's good to his skin. He doesn't do the dermaroller, but he would if I showed it to him. I have to protect my product!"

James Van Der Beek once lent Justin Timberlake his I.D. so the singer could get into a club.
The 'Dawson's Creek' actor planned to go partying in Las Vegas with boy band 'N Sync in the 90s, but the underage heartthrobs' attempt to share the TV star's driver's license to sneak into the venue failed dismally.
Speaking in a web chat with HuffPost Live, James recalled: "I was in Vegas one New Year's and somebody came by and said, 'N Sync wants to meet you!' And at the time, 'N Sync was the second to Backstreet Boys - it was before they had blown up.
"So, I said, 'OK.' And I met them and they were so sweet. They were so nice. They were such cool kids and I immediately liked them. I remember that night, we were all going to some club and they were all too young.
"And so I went in and somehow passed my I.D. back so that Justin could get in with my I.D. Justin used it to get in and then tried to pass it off to [Lance Bass] to get in. By the third time [the bouncers]saw a James Van Der Beek I.D., they were like, 'Ah, I don't think so, James.' "
The 37-year-old actor also discussed landing his iconic role as boy next door Dawson Leery in teen sitcom 'Dawson's Creek', admitting that 'Entourage' star Adrian Grenier originally also auditioned for the part and the rising stars shared an extremely awkward flight to Los Angeles on their way to meet with producers.
He said: "We were both testing for the same role and they sat us next to each other on the plane."
However, James insists things between actors are normally very friendly.
He added: "I haven't really seen much cattiness. There's enough work for everybody."

James Franco has accused Lindsay Lohan of lying about having had sex with him.
The '127 Hours' actor was named on a leaked list of 36 celebrity sexual conquests allegedly written by the actress so insists he didn't feel bad for writing about her in his new book of poetry because he never said anything worse than she is claimed to have done.
In an interview with Los Angeles magazine, James said: "No, I didn't write anything bad about them. And Lindsay herself has told lies about me with her people-she's-slept-with list! So I feel like what I said is much less than what she's said."
James, 35, mentions Lindsay alongside other stars in his book 'Directing Herbert White', and hopes his celebrity status will encourage people who otherwise wouldn't be interested to give poetry a chance.
He explained: "I know that my life as an actor obviously casts a shadow over what I'm doing with the poetry, but it allows me to get readers that maybe normally wouldn't read a book of poetry.
"It also attracts skepticism and contempt prior to investigation, but I can't think about that. It's something I love, and if people want to judge my poetry through the lens of my acting then there's nothing I can do about that."
