Justin Timberlake and many other stars have paid tribute to troops in celebration of Memorial Day today (26.05.14).
The 'Sexyback' singer is spending the US national holiday on tour and is currently in Istanbul, Turkey, but still took the time to say some words reflecting on the fallen soldiers his home country has previously lost.
He wrote on Twitter: "Today we remember our heroes in uniform who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our great nation. Thanks to them we can live freely."
A number of other celebrities shared the singer's sentiment, and paid their own tributes.
Channing Tatum quoted a former US President, writing: "'The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it.' - John F. Kennedy #MemorialDay (sic)."
Backstreet Boys' official account tweeted: "Happy Memorial Day! Shout out to all of the wonderful people who serve America and keep us safe - you are amazing."
Actress Chloe Grace Moretz tweeted: "Thank you so much to all the servicemen and women who have gone above and beyond protecting our country. Happy Memorial Day."
Ceremonies and parades are taking place across the US today in honour of fallen troops. Yesterday (25.05.14) President Barack Obama arrived in Afghanistan to speak with soldiers treated at a base hospital.
He also paid tribute to the more than 2,100 US military members who have died in the ongoing 13-year Afghan conflict.
Rob Kardashian also used this morning to make a fresh start, after flying out of France and missing his sister, Kim's wedding to Kanye West at the weekend, for reasons which aren't entirely clear.
He wrote "good morning from Los Angeles" before deleting all of his previous tweets and changing his avatar, then writing a Memorial Day tribute.
He said: "Happy memorial day. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD. Psalm 33:12. Lord Jesus, protect those who protect me - police, firefighters, and those in the military. Teach me to pray for them and to honor them for their service. Amen.(sic)"

Lil' Wayne and Lil Twist have blasted Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun.
'A Milli' rapper Wayne has taken Twist under his wing since he was forced out of his friend Bieber's mansion last year, and they claim the young star's manager has been trying to deflect blame for his artist's bad boy behaviour onto the rising rap star.
In the video, published on Breadoverbed.com, Wayne says: "I heard this bitchass n***a Scooter talkin' s**t about my little brother.
"N***a this my mother******g brother, anything you got to say, when you see me say it to my mother******g face. And if you do happen to say it to my mother******g face, I ain't gonna make you eat them words n***a, I'ma put them bitches on your tombstone."
During the clip, Wayne has his arm around Twist in a show of solidarity. He ends the video by saying: "F**k you Scooter!"
Twist has previously voiced his disdain for Braun, writing on Twitter in November last year: "Side stay squeaky clean... And I took that... But with that being said.. F**k u Scooter and everything u stand for.. And all yo fake stories (sic)."
Scooter was said to have put his foot down over Twist and demanded Bieber sever ties with him in August last year after he was accused of grabbing a girl and holding her against her will at the singer's California mansion. He was later cleared of the charges.
Last year Twist was also pulled over for speeding in Bieber's Ferrari as well as being arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

Lea Michele stole toilet paper from the White House.
The 'Glee' actress snuck some bathroom tissue into her handbag after performing for US President Barack Obama alongside the cast of her hit TV show in 2010 so she would always remember her brush with political royalty.
Sharing a list of 25 things fans don't know about her, Lea confessed to Us Weekly: "I stole toilet paper from the White House when the 'Glee' cast sang for Barack Obama."
The 27-year-old star also revealed she had some pretty unusual pets when she was younger.
She said: "Growing up, hermit crabs were my favourite pet. I had about 20."
The 'Cannonball' singer has two severe phobias, but getting naked in public isn't one of them.
Lea revealed: "In Broadway's 'Spring Awakening', I got naked on stage every night. [But] I'm terrified of sharks and dark water."
And the brunette - whose boyfriend Cory Monteith tragically passed away aged just 31 last summer - confessed one of her biggest regrets is not pursuing her Spanish skills.
She said: "I can recite all of Maria's lines in 'West Side Story' in Spanish. That's the only Spanish I know. My parents are fluent in Spanish, but they made me try to learn French."

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are planning to renew their wedding vows.
The couple - who tied the knot in August 2008 - are organising a lavish ceremony to celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary in Sydney, Australia.
A source said that the duo "want to show their commitment to each other" after the chat show host was forced to deny they were having problems in December.
The insider added to America's OK! magazine: "There have been a lot of headlines suggesting that their relationship is in trouble. They want to quash them.
"[They] are looking to do something on or around August 16, their sixth wedding anniversary, in Portia's home country of Australia. They want it to be in Sydney because the city has a big gay population, and they want to help spur the acceptance of same-sex marriage."
The happy couple recently splashed out on installing a $35,000 home spa at their house in Holmby Hills, California.
The couple bought the home for a whopping $40 million in January.

Michael Jackson's manager tried to "kidnap" the singer to save him from drug addiction.
Ron Weisner - who controlled the late singer's career during his heyday - came up with a plan to rescue the King of Pop at the height of his troubles in 2006 when he was reportedly being plied with drugs and cash by Bahraini royalty.
According to excerpts from Ron's new book, 'Listen Out Loud', obtained by the New York Post's Page Six, the showbiz mogul concocted an elaborate plan with Michael's sister La Toya Jackson to sneak the 'Thriller' hitmaker away from his exotic haven and take him to rehab.
He writes: "That's exactly what this was, a kidnapping [on] the other side of the world" that involved a plane, rehab facility, a team and "more money than I'd care to admit."
Despite discussing the plan 10 times over the course of the year, La Toya begged Ron to back out at the last minute.
Ron added: "In retrospect, it was probably for the best ... as one of my attorneys pointed out. There was little question that [the law] would view this as a kidnapping rather than an attempt to help a colleague."
The businessman - who also controlled Sir Paul McCartney and Madonna's careers - had been axed from looking after Michael's affairs by the star's father Joe Jackson at the time, and didn't see him again until 2009.
He recalled his final meeting with Michael at the Staples Center, just days before he died from acute Propofol intoxication.
Ron revealed: "He hadn't looked really healthy for a good long while, but this was a whole other level. I thought ... 'He looks like a goddamn prisoner of war' ... He had that look in his eyes ... a look of resignation, a look that said, 'It's over,' and it broke my heart."

Rob Kardashian allegedly skipped Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding because of his weight.
The reality star's confidence has been knocked since he started piling on the pounds and he is said to have felt so "insecure and depressed" that he shunned his older sister's star-studded ceremony at Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy, just to avoid being in the family photos.
According to TMZ, the 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' clan were devastated when Rob opted to fly back to Los Angeles from Paris on Saturday (25.05.14).
Upon arriving in LAX, the sock designer ignored the paparazzi's queries about why he wasn't at the wedding of the year and avoided eye contact as he texted on his phone.
This report comes after the 27-year-old star - whose problems started following his bitter break-up with Rita Ora in 2013 - allegedly got into an argument with Kim over her lavish wedding extravaganza, which he branded "superficial bulls**t".
Things kicked off between the siblings during a lunch at designer Valentino's Château de Wideville in Crespières, France, and Rob headed for the airport shortly afterwards.
An insider told HollywoodLife.com: "Rob is not in a good place right now at all and his family should be very worried about him. He was embarrassed to go to the wedding in the first place because of his weight gain and to be ridiculed by Kim and basically rejected has put him over the edge."
Following their fairytale wedding, Kim and Kanye jetted off to Cork, Ireland, to enjoy a five-day honeymoon at a "luxury private estate" in the country.

Nicole Richie is "so excited" that Benji Madden is dating Cameron Diaz.
The reality TV star, who is married to Benji's twin brother, Joel Madden, recently played match-maker and set 'The Other Woman' star up on a date with her brother-in-law, and is thrilled they've hit it off.
A source told America's Star magazine: "Nicole initiated the whole thing by inviting both of them over to her house. She knew they would get along.
"She's so excited that things are working out between them. And it's and added bonus that she doesn't have to deal with getting to know another one of Benji's new girlfriends."
Cameron and Benji's romance is starting to heat up and they have been spending lots of time together.
The insider said: "She loves that he's a bad boy with a heart of gold. He's really making her happy. Cameron wants to spend as much time with him as possible."
Cameron has previously admitted to having a romantic liaison with another woman.
She said: "I have been with a lady, yeah."

Kieran Hayler felt "suicidal" after lying to Katie Price.
The builder was forced to undertake a lie detector test when his wife suspected him of having an affair with her married best friend Jane Pountney following a steamy sunbed encounter she stumbled across on holiday in Cape Verde.
Kieran lied his way through the test, which was set up by experts from 'The Jeremy Kyle Show', but instantly regretted his claims the holiday smooch had been a one-off and chose to endure Katie's wrath rather than be plagued by his guilty conscience.
He told The Sun newspaper: "After that I couldn't lie anymore. It was killing me. I went out into the field opposite Kate's house at 7.30am and lay there for four hours.
"I felt suicidal. I wasn't thinking straight so I called my therapist from the field. I went back inside the house to the cinema room and admitted everything to Kate.
"I've watched 'Jeremy Kyle' on ITV and seen plenty of guys confessing on the show. It made me think, 'That's the person I am.'
"Kate immediately told me she couldn't be with me anymore and wanted a divorce -- and that's when she started tweeting her anger. She was devastated and threw the nearest object at me.
"I had her autobiography aimed at my head as well as a large candle."
The love rat blames Jane - who was Katie's maid of honour when she wed Kieran last April - for not "saying no" to him and believes being bullied from a young age has triggered his immature behaviour.
Kieran is hopeful he can win his pregnant wife back for the sake of their nine-month-old son Jett, as well as Katie's children from past relationships, Harvey, 12, Junior, eight, and Princess, six.
He lamented: "What I've done is worse than bad. It's the worst you could do to anyone. I've got an illness and I do want to fix that...
"I love Kate with all my heart and I believe Kate loves me. She's done nothing wrong. It's me who needs help. Whether or not she can deal with the pictures of what's happened in her head I don't know."

Whitney Houston's family is furious about her new Lifetime biopic.
The late superstar's loved ones are "p**sed" that the Angela Basset-directed film depicting Whitney's rocky relationship with her ex-husband Bobby Brown is being planned as a TV movie because they feel she deserves so much more.
Pat Houston, the 'I Will Always Love You' singer's sister-in-law, told TMZ: "Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie. If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening."
Whitney's estate has reportedly already informed Lifetime of their displeasure and is said to be threatening a lawsuit if the network refuses to cancel production.
The singer's loved ones are instead planning their own big screen movie in the style of Michael Jackson's 'This Is It', which they feel would be a more fitting tribute to the musical icon, who accidentally drowned in February 2012 in her Beverly Hilton hotel suite, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors.
Meanwhile, the Lifetime movie is set for release in 2015 and will see Oscar-nominated actress Angela, who starred opposite Whitney in the 1995 picture 'Waiting to Exhale', make her directorial debut.
She commented last week: "I have such regard for both Whitney's and Bobby's amazing talents and accomplishments, and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story. Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I'm beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world."
