Peaches Geldof was failed by friends who ignored her drug use, a pal has claimed.
Gerry Agar says she knew the star - who died of a heroin overdose in April - was in "trouble" some time ago and reached out to encourage her to seek help after claiming others close to her refused to address her reliance on the narcotic.
Gerry - a close friend of Peaches' late mother Paula Yates - said: "I knew she was in trouble years ago and I tried to confront her about it.
"So many people around her knew about it but said nothing.
"But I'd lost my mother and my best friend to heroin and I didn't want to lose Peaches.
"I wrote her a letter but I never heard from her again."
The author hoped Peaches would turn her back on drugs for good when she married Thomas Cohen in 2012 and after seeing she had "tried" to quit the deadly habit after having sons Astala, two, and Phaedra, 15 months, was convinced she would win her battle.
However, despite apparent signs she had returned to heroin, Gerry claims Peaches' friends "turned a blind eye" and ignored her problem.
She added to Britain's Grazia magazine: "I knew she was trying to come off heroin and I thought she could make it.
"But then it started again.
"I knew it was happening. I think a lot of people did but turned blind eyes."

Orlando Bloom has allegedly tried to punch Justin Bieber.
The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor reportedly tried to hit the 20-year-old singer whilst out at Cipriani restaurant in Ibiza in the early hours of this (30.07.14) morning.
On video footage obtained by website TMZ, the 'Beauty and the Beat' hit maker can be heard shouting: "What's up b***h?"
TMZ also reported that after ducking the punch, Justin quickly left the venue as other guests at the party started applauding the English actor.
As well as Orlando and Justin, other stars at the party at Cipriani included Paris Hilton and P. Diddy.
It is unknown why the pair started fighting, but the troubled pop star has been linked to Orlando's model ex-wife, Miranda Kerr - the mother of his three-year-old son Flynn who he split from last October - in the past. The pair were even spotted partying together after a Victoria's Secret fashion show in 2012.
To add yet more fuel to the fire, in April 2014 Orlando enjoyed a meal out with Justin's on-off girlfriend Selena Gomez.
After the alleged punching incident, Justin Bieber posted - and then quickly deleted - a photo of Miranda on his Instagram account; the biggest indication yet that the feud was caused by his rumoured relationship with the brunette beauty.

David Beckham's plans to bring a Major League Soccer team to Miami are in jeopardy as he has yet to find a suitable location for the stadium.
The 39-year-old soccer star quit the professional sport in 2013 following a successful 20-year career and wants to create his own team in Florida but MLS commissioner Don Garber has warned that league will not approve a team until a stadium is secured.
He told ESPN: "Miami remains a top priority for us. But we are mindful of the challenges we had in the past and must have the right ownership group and stadium location. David has been working to secure additional partners, all, if approved, would be terrific MLS owners. David and his partners have not yet been able to secure a site that we believe provides the proper access and iconic presence that will help ensure success."
And he insisted that it must be a downtown location or else David's franchise bid will be quashed.
He added: "We remain focused on a downtown Miami location, and we will not expand to Miami unless we have a downtown site for the stadium."
David had considered a plot near the American Airlines arena on Biscayne Blvd, Miami, where basketball side Miami Heat play their home games, but the city did not give approval for the site.

Kate Moss allegedly "blagged" her way onto a flight from Turkey to London without a ticket on Monday (28.07.14).
The supermodel, 40, reportedly turned up at Bodrum Airport intoxicated following a detox vacation at the LifeCo in Göltürkbükü, and held up a queue of customers waiting to board EasyJet's flight to London Gatwick after appearing to forget her boarding pass.
An eyewitness told the MailOnline: "The general consensus was that she didn't have a ticket but after chatting to the manager for some time she was whisked off and ushered on to a flight.
"It was pretty obvious that Kate had had a bit to drink as she was talking loudly and didn't seem worried about being seen."
The flight was late arriving at the British airport after it took off from Turkey two hours and 21 minutes behind schedule, but the blonde beauty didn't seem fazed by the delay and spent the flight chatting to fellow flyers.
One passenger, Rayanne, took to Twitter after the flight to share her experience, tweeting: "Just got off my flight with a very drunk Kate Moss."
While another customer, Amelia, added: "Seen Kate Moss drunk in the airport."

Liam Neeson still hasn't come to terms with his wife's death five years ago.
The 'Taken' star was left heartbroken when he switched off Natasha Richardson's life support in 2009 following a tragic ski accident and he admits he still expects to "hear her" walk through the door at times.
He said: "Her death was never real. It still kind of isn't. There's periods now when I hear the door opening, especially the first couple of years ... anytime I hear that door opening, I still think I'm going to hear her."
The 62-year-old actor also opened up about the devastating moment he realised it was time to end her life after doctors told him his wife was brain dead.
He explained to Loaded magazine: "I went in to her and I just told her I loved her. I said, 'Sweetie, you're not coming back from this.'
"She and I had made a pact. If any of us got into a vegetative state we'd pull the plug.
"So when I saw her and saw all these tubes and stuff that was my immediate thought, 'OK, these tubes have to go. She's gone'."
However, Liam - who has sons Micheál, 18, and Daniel, 17, with Natasha - admits throwing himself back into work hasn't helped ease the pain.
He said: "It hits you. It's like a wave. You just get this profound feeling of instability.
"The earth isn't stable any more and then it passes and it becomes more infrequent, but I still get it sometimes."

Alicia Silverstone threw a vegan bash at a farm for her son Bear's third birthday.
The 'Clueless' star, who is married to Christopher Jarecki, invited friends and family to Farm Sanctuary's Southern California Shelter for the event, where her little boy was thrilled when staff named a lamb in his honour.
The 37-year-old beauty opened up about the special event on her blog TheKindLife.com, writing: "We had the sweetest time celebrating Bear's birthday at Farm Sanctuary. From loving up the animals to a raging drum circle with the most delicious vegan food and sunshine -- it was a fun-filled and happy day."
She added: "At the end of the day, the Farm Sanctuary staff surprised Bear with an incredible birthday gift. They had just rescued a baby lamb (eight days old!!) that was found abandoned in a barn in LA country and decided to name her Bear! She was still in a fragile state so she couldn't be exposed to large groups of people but once the majority of guests took off she was brought out. She was so gentle and adorable. Bear was thrilled. It was beautiful."
Alicia has previously attracted criticism for some of her parenting decisions, including her son's vegan diet, chewing his food before giving it to him, and ingesting her placenta through a pill.
But she recently said: "As far as critics, I'm very secure in the choices I make because I'm really informed and I trust my instincts and when I need help, I go to the people I see parent or birth or be pregnant in a way that was really inspiring me. And the rest is just noise."

Ethan Hawke says he has an "intense friendship" with his wife, Ryan Hawke.
The 43-year-old actor, who previously claimed he didn't believe in monogamy, insists he has a "fantastic" relationship with his spouse of six years.
He said: "My wife [keeps me grounded]. It's the most intense friendship I've ever known, and it's been fantastic for me. Everything in my life works when that's working."
Ethan once admitted he didn't know what the future held for him and Ryan.
He said: "People have such a childish view of monogamy and fidelity. 'He's cheated so he's bad, she's cheated so she's bad,' as opposed to a recognition that our species is not monogamous. To act all indignant, that your world has been rocked because your lover wasn't faithful to you, is a little bit like acting rocked that your hair went grey. Human beings are sexual beings."
Meanwhile, the 'Boyhood' star, who has daughters Clementine, six, and Indiana, three, with Ryan, and daughter Maya, 16, and son, Levon, 12, with ex-wife Uma Thurman, also says he always wanted to be a father.
He told Beach magazine: "Being a father is one of the most natural things--it's the rest of life that's so hard. Co-parenting, finding the right school--all of that c**p is a giant headache. But being a father is incredibly simple. I always wanted to be a father."

Katy Perry partied with Diplo in Las Vegas on Monday night (28.07.14).
The 'Dark Horse' hitmaker, who reportedly rekindled her romance with the DJ, real name Thomas Pentz, last month, was spotted enjoying a cosy dinner with him and 12 other pals at Andrea's restaurant inside Encore at the Wynn hotel to celebrate a friend's birthday.
A source told E! News that the couple ordered an assortment of sushi, ice cream and a flaming Mt. Fuji dessert before they headed to XS nightclub, where Diplo took over the DJ booth.
The singer, 29, and her pals sipped cocktails and danced the night away during his performance.
Katy, who split from John Mayer earlier this year, was first linked to the music producer at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California in April.
They ended their fling a month later, but reunited for a holiday in Jamaica last month.
A source previously claimed that the duo called off their relationship because it was moving too quickly and Diplo, 35, wanted to introduce the 'Roar' singer to his family.
The insider said: "Diplo broke up with her because she does not want to be in a serious relationship. She's doing OK and not too sad about it. They wanted different things."

Adrienne Bailon claims dating Rob Kardashian hurt her career.
The 30-year-old singer, who split from the reality TV star in 2009 after two years of dating and later underwent laser treatment to get a tattoo of his name removed from her butt, admits she regrets making cameos on his family's E! series, 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians.'
She told Latina magazine: "To be stuck with that Kardashian label, that was so hurtful to me and to my career. I probably realised that too late -- not that it would've affected my decisions in terms of who I dated, but it would've affected my decision to appear on the show.
"At the time, I didn't think anyone would even care. To this day, people will still say, 'You ruined Rob's life!' and I'll think, Damn, I was still playing with Barbie dolls when I met him."
Adrienne also claims she felt under pressure to stay with Rob after he cheated on her.
She said: "It's common knowledge that he cheated on me, and it always bothered me that people were like, 'Pero, why couldn't you forgive him?' Why are women always the ones who have to forgive? If you cheated on a man, he would be like, 'You're disgusting, and I want nothing to do with you.' But women, we're supposed to be like, 'He messed up. He made a mistake.' "
She added: "And, in my situation, it wasn't like, 'Oh my God! I made a mistake!' He strategically planned things out so that he could cheat on me, and that to me was so disloyal."
