Zoe Saldana avoided doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge because of her pregnancy.
The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' beauty, who is rumoured to be expecting twins, acknowledged for the first time she is set to become a mother before nominating her husband, Marco Perego, to take her place and complete the task by having freezing water poured over his head to raise awareness for the nerve cells disease.
Turning to the side and rubbing her growing baby bump, the 36-year-old actress, who was nominated by director James Gunn, said in a video of the event: "I am accepting James Gunn's challenge to take on the ice bucket challenge.
"Obviously, I can't do it myself so I nominate my husband to take on the challenge and get rinsed with a nice bucket of ice water."
After pouring ice cubes and water over artist Marco's head, the actress nominated four people, including James Cameron and Salma Hayek, to take on the challenge next.
Zoe has been tight-lipped about her pregnancy until now and a source previously said: "She will only announce the news when she's ready."
Another insider said that 'Avatar' star, who secretly married Marco in London last year, "has always wanted a big family."

French Montana insists he would do anything for Khloé Kardashian.
The Moroccan-born rapper, 29, says his recent comments about his desire to "capatalise" on his four-month romance with the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star were taken out of context and claims he has mixed feelings about her family's reality TV series.
The 'Don't Panic' hitmaker told 'Access Hollywood' on Tuesday (19.08.14): "I was so mad about that. If I'm with somebody, I'm not with them for that reason."
He added: "She supports me with everything I do. When it comes to her career, I don't think about it. If she needs me to do something, I do it."
Asked about appearing on Khloé's E! reality series, he said: "I hate being on camera ... Sometimes you're not ready for it and it's too much pressure, but I [also] love it. But I hate how it happened... all the commotion."
French also brushed off rumours Khloé's mother, Kris Jenner, doesn't approve of their relationship.
He said: "I love Kris."
The 'Ain't Worried About Nothin' rapper - real name Karim Kharbouch - admits he isn't perfect and believes he got shot in the head in New York City in 2003 because he got "involved with the wrong crowd," but it inspired him to turn over a new leaf.
He explained: "After you go through something like that, you ain't making no mistakes. You calculate every move you do. I just feel like it was karma. When you do negative stuff in your life, it always comes back to you. I feel like that's what it was."

Joe Manganiello admits he "could have got in a fight" with Sofia Vergara's ex-fiancé.
The 'True Blood' star, who recently started dating the 'Modern Family' beauty, admits he couldn't resist admiring her butt when they first met at the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington DC shortly before she split from Nick Loeb in May.
After being shown a photograph of himself getting "busted" for checking her out at the event, the 37-year-old heartthrob told E! News: "Come on, you can't put that in front of me, what am I supposed to do, I'm not going to apologise.
"Yeah, I totally got busted. That was actually funny when we first started dating, months after that. We had talked I guess or kind of bumped into each other, but we didn't start dating until she was single. I mean she had a boyfriend at that time, so I probably could have got in a fight for doing that. I'm not trying to start a fight at the White House."
But he jokingly added: "I mean if that walks in front of you, it's liked the Pied Piper, you just follow it. It's a moment of sin and you don't know what you're doing."
Joe is currently preparing for his upcoming role as a stripper in 'Magic Mike 2' and Sofia, 42, is reaping the benefits.
He said: "Well you know, I need to practice getting ready for 'Magic Mike 2.' "
The actress recently admitted she is "having a great time" with Joe.
She added: "It's a special time in my life, and I'm trying not to think too much about it. It's something very new, so we will see what happen."

Rihanna and Drake partied together in New York City last night (18.08.14).
The on-again, off-again couple, who were rumoured to have split in May, were spotted flirting and whispering in each other's ears at The Griffin nightclub in the Meatpacking District.
An eyewitness told gossip website TMZ.com that the duo spent almost two hours in deep conversation inside the venue before leaving 10 minutes apart at 3am this morning (19.08.14).
Their night out comes one month after the 'Hold On, We're Going Home' hitmaker, 27, hinted he was still casually dating the 'Right Now' singer, 26.
Asked if he was inspired to write new music because he was "a bachelor again," the Canadian star said: "Well, um, actually, my status hasn't changed, just to clear that up, you know, I've always just been out here coasting."
Drake, who also dated the Barbados-born beauty in 2009, was reportedly devastated when Rihanna dumped him after a series of arguments following their reunion in February.
A source said at the time: "She gave him his marching orders and he's destroyed."
But another insider predicted they could get back together again, saying: "Rihanna and Drake had another fight. He is too in love with her, which has always been the problem. They have been fighting, but that could all change any day now. It is how it always is with them."

Keyshawn Johnson insists he is not responsible for the mould in the home he sold Kourtney Kardashian.
The former NFL star has hit back at the pregnant 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star and her boyfriend, Scott Disick - who fled the $8.5 million mansion in Calabasas, California with their children, Mason, four, and Penelople, two, last night (18.08.14) after their interior decorator discovered dangerous fungus on the walls - amid rumours the couple are preparing to sue because they believe the problem was deliberately covered-up with paint before they purchased the house earlier this year.
The 42-year-old athlete told gossip website TMZ.com in a statement through his lawyer: "There was no water damage to the house I sold to Ms. Kardashian. It is a new home that I built less than 10 years ago. It never had any water or mould problems. Prior to sale, the house was thoroughly inspected by excellent, experienced inspectors that they hired. I don't know what has transpired since they moved into the house but I wish them well."
Another insider said Keyshawn never painted anything while he was living in the property for less than three years and believes the mould developed when a bathroom pipe leaked in the wall after the sale was finalised.
The source also insists Keyshawn lived in the house with his two children so would never knowingly have exposed his own family to the mould and claims Kourtney has been a nuisance since she moved in, contacting him at least 10 times to ask further questions.
The brunette beauty decided to check into a Beverly Hills hotel with her family last night, as she is concerned the mould could negatively impact the health of her children and unborn baby.

Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi's best pal says her second pregnancy has made her scary.
Jenni 'JWoww' Farley, who gave birth to her first daughter, Meilani, last month, claims her former 'Jersey Shore' co-star has started behaving like something from the horror film 'The Exorcist,' as she gears up to welcome her own little girl into the world with fiancé Jionni LaValle, with whom she already has a two-year-old son, Lorenzo.
The 28-year-old reality TV star told E! News: "She's been saying a lot that she had no idea how different pregnancies can be, and she's been asking me a lot of questions like I used to ask her. She is not happy."
She added: "I hated my pregnancy. They say [baby girls] take your estrogen so your hormones are more depleted.
"I don't know if that's true or not because I never had a boy, but I'm looking at Nicole - she loved the pregnancy with Lorenzo. This one, I'm scared of her. It's like 'The Exorcist.' "
Meanwhile, Jenni admits it only took her a few weeks to shed the 30 pounds she gained during her pregnancy.
She said: "A lot of my girlfriends hate me! Two-and-a-half weeks after I had her, I was down to my previous weight."
But she added: "I'm jiggly in places that should not jiggle. So I lost probably a lot of muscle and replaced it with just, it looks like the wave. When I stop, it keeps moving!"
