Jackson Rathbone feared for his life after the engine of his plane exploded in the air today (18.09.14).
The 'Twilight' star, 29, was convinced he, his wife Sheila Hafsadi, and their two-year-old son Monroe were about to die after the JetBlue aircraft he was travelling in was forced to make an emergency landing.
Taking to his Twitter account, he wrote: "We were on @jetblue flight 1416 to Austin from Long Beach. Our right engine exploded and our cabin filled with smoke.
"The oxygen masks did not deploy, but the brave stewardesses came around and manually deployed them. It was rough, the plane was rocking."
The hunk prayed to God after the pilot of the Airbus A320, which was carrying 142 passengers and five crew members, instructed everyone to adopt the brace position ready for a potential crash landing.
Jackson added: "I recited the Lord's Prayer as I held my son and my wife in my arms. The pilot came on the PA and let us know we lost the right engine.
"We were told to brace as we careened sharply back towards land. Guided by our pilot, and I believe our guardian angels, we landed safely."
He added: "I just couldn't stop kissing my family and thanking my God."
Jackson, who was en route from California to Texas at the time, admits the frightening experience put everything into perspective and he's so "grateful" that himself and his family are safe and well.
He finished with: "I grabbed my son and jumped down the inflated ramp, my wife following. We left all our personal effects onboard. Who cares. We were alive. We're safe. I'm grateful."

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith prefer to have date nights at home.
The couple, who got married in 1997, believe it's important to spend some time alone with one another in order to keep their romance alive, but they would rather bond at their house than sit in a luxury restaurant surrounded by people watching them.
Speaking in October's issue of Health magazine, Jada said: "A lot of times, we'll do it [have a date] at the house because when we go out it can be a little hectic."
The loved-up duo - who have 16-year-old son Jaden and 13-year-old daughter Willow together - thoroughly enjoy setting up a tent in their garden and chilling out under the stars while sipping on glasses of wine.
She explained: "We have different places around our yard where we like to set up a little Arabian tent, pillows, wine and cheese, candlelight. Will likes really thought out productions."
Meanwhile, the 42-year-old actress recently admitted she is "ecstatic" about the way her 17-year marriage with the 45-year-old hunk has evolved over time.
She said previously: "Will, to me, encompasses everything. It's almost as if calling him 'my husband' is too small of a word for what he means in my life ... I think I had a very stuck idea of what a husband looks like, what a wife should be.
"Once I broke all of that, a whole new world opened for me and man, oh, man, I got to see him in all his glory. And so that's what it's evolved into. And I'm just ecstatic about it."
Meanwhile, Will also has 21-year-old son Trey from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.

Kylie Jenner reportedly feels she's "living in the shadows" of her sister Kendall.
The 17-year-old star is allegedly starting to feel left out following her older sibling's recent modelling success and believes she's no longer getting as much attention from her family as Kendall, 18, is getting right now.
A source told RadarOnline.com: "Living in the shadows of her sister Kendall's incredibly successful modelling career is hard on Kylie.
"Everyone in the family gives all of the attention to Kendall. She feels like the other Jenner.
"The whole family always just focuses on Kendall right now and it is sad. It seems like it is really starting to affect Kylie emotionally."
However, Kylie has started taking lessons with Willow Smith's singing coach Tim Carter as she's keen to make it as a pop star and become the next Katy Perry.
A source said previously: "Kylie has found her calling in life -- to be a singer! Kylie is now working on her first single! She is telling everyone that she knows she is going to be the next Katy Perry.
"She is in training right now with vocal coach and producer, Tim Carter. Kylie has a great voice."
The brunette beauty also hopes her brother-in-law Kanye West, who is married to her older half-sister Kim Kardashian West, will assist her in the recording studio.
The source added: "She realised that she can't compete with Kendall when it comes to modelling. So she has chosen to turn to music.

Kendall Jenner was allegedly "bullied" by fellow models at New York Fashion Week.
The 18-year-old star was reportedly targeted by other runway professionals at the glamorous event last week as they were jealous of her recent sudden success.
A source told In Touch Weekly magazine: "The other models worked so hard to get a spot on the runway and didn't think it was fair that she was there.
"They started acting b****y. Some even put out their cigarettes in Kendall's drink!"
Meanwhile, Kendall - who is the half-sister of Kim Kardashian West - recently insisted that she's had to work hard to pursue her dreams of modelling and admitted she's even faced setbacks due to her fame.
She said previously: "I want to be high fashion. I want to be taken seriously.
"People think that this [success] just came to me. But it didn't. What I have has almost worked against me."
She added: "People didn't take me seriously as a model...I went on castings and some people weren't feeling me because of my name. But it was great when people didn't recognise me. I was like, 'Thank you. Please don't recognise me.' "

Chris Brown believes he'll always remain "great" friends with Rihanna.
The 25-year-old singer was sentenced to six months community service and placed on probation for five years for assaulting his former girlfriend in 2009, but he believes they still share a deep connection and hopes they will continue to be pals as time goes on.
Speaking to 'Access Hollywood,' he said: "Me and her [Rihanna] are friends. We have a great understanding, there's no issues. We've been friends for almost 10 years and I don't think that's ever gonna change."
The 'Forever' hitmaker, who spent 108 days behind bars for violating his probation when he allegedly made threats about using guns while seeking anger-management treatment in rehab, was released from jail on June 2 and admits the experience helped him.
He explained: "The past year has been God's way of showing me what was necessary. You think you're invincible and I needed to look at my life and see it. I need to be more of a role model. I wanna be an icon for what I do with my talent.
"I want to be legendary for what I do with my music not for what happens in my personal life."
However, the hunk, who was sentenced to time already served after pleading guilty to assault in Washington DC earlier this month stemming from an incident last October, admits he didn't pen any tracks in jail.
He added: "I didn't write in jail. I need the vibe of the studio. I feed off people's energies. I like to pack my studios with females because that's my core audience. I like to see their vibe so it lets me gauge if I am doing something right."

Jason Bateman has learned to "fight quick" with his wife.
The 45-year-old actor - who has daughters Franny, seven, and Maple, two, with spouse Amanda - believes it is important to resolve domestic disputes as soon as possible because there is no getting away from one another.
He said: "Siblings don't necessarily have to forgive you [after a row], but they have to put up with you because you're not going away.
"But that's like a mate, too. I remember when my wife and I first moved in together, the first thing I learned to do was to fight quick. If you're going to stay under the same roof, eventually you're going to make up."
The 'This Is Where I Leave You' actor values his time off from work because he doesn't get much chance to see his kids when filming.
He told USA Today newspaper: "Unless you're shooting close to your city, there's really no way to see them until you're done with production.
"So when you are with your kids and you're home, you just really try to be present."
And Jason loves watching his kids together, particularly as Franny is only just getting round to accepting having to share her parents' attention.
He added: "Franny is still trying to make a friend of Maple.
"She likes the pure-white spotlight on her. But she's starting to take ownership. It's her sister as opposed to our daughter."

Kourtney Kardashian is expecting a baby girl.
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star and her partner Scott Disick - who already have son Mason, four, and daughter Penelope, two, together - recently found out the gender of their unborn third child and the brunette beauty is said to be "thrilled" by the news.
A source told In Touch Weekly magazine:"They just found out.
"Kourtney is so thrilled; she had wanted a girl from the very start."
According to the insider, Kourtney - who has two sisters, two half-sisters, a brother and four step-brothers - had hoped for a girl because she wanted a sister for Penelope after growing up in such a female-dominated household herself.
On a recent episode of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians', 31-year-old Scott accused Kourtney, 35, of "suckering" him into having another child.
He ranted: "This is ridiculous. It is always so sneaky with you. You need to stop lying to me. You just keep suckering me into these kids.
"I just kind of thought that at two we did not want to have any more kids and now I have to look after three. Just saying it is freaking me out."

Miley Cyrus could face a jail sentence after being spanked on stage with a Mexican flag.
The 21-year-old star - known for her controversial on-stage antics - has caused controversy after one of her dancers jokingly smacked the prosthetic butt she was sporting with the symbolic piece of fabric during her show in Monterrey, Mexico on Tuesday night (16.09.14).
According to gossip website TMZ, Miley could be in trouble because of the incident as the congress of the state of Nuevo Leon allegedly wants to take action against the pop star.
Should they be successful then the 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker could face 36 hours in jail or a fine of $1,200.
It's not the first time Miley has come under fire for her on-stage antics. She was slammed for her performance with Robin Thicke at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards when she stripped down to a flesh-coloured latex bikini, twerked up against his body and touched his crouch with a foam finger.
Should Miley get into trouble for her latest antics then she wouldn't be the only star to face the wrath of the Mexican authorities.
In 2008, Paulina Rubio was fined $4,000 after she appeared naked while draped in a Mexican flag in the Spanish edition of Cosmopolitan.
Her mother, Susana Dosamantes, shot to her Mexican daughter's defence insisting she didn't authorise the publication to publish the pictures.
She said at the time: "I'm not sure if the photo has been doctored, but I do know that there's a studio that took [some photos] of Paulina seven years ago that she didn't authorise to be published.
"If you look at the picture, you'll realise that it's not current, or real."

The 'Hunger Games' actress - who has been dating the 37-year-old singer since June - was spotted singing along to all of the band's lyrics as they performed at the Ace Hotel Theatre in Los Angeles and had her eyes firmly fixed on the frontman.
A source told E!: "She danced the entire time.
"She knew every word to every song and there was a glisten in her eye as she watched Chris perform.
"She couldn't take her eyes off him."
The 24-year-old beauty was said to have shared a moment with Chris - who split from Gwyneth Paltrow in March after 10 years of marriage - when he sang the group's recent hit 'Magic'.

The former couple had brunch at the Hungry Cat in Santa Monica, California on Saturday (09.13.14).
