James Blunt is ready to have children.
The 'You're Beautiful' hitmaker married Sofia Wellesley last month and is keen to start a family but would be content to shower his love on a pet if that doesn't happen.
He told HELLO! magazine: "Having children seems like an amazing thing to do. A lot of my friends and family have done it. It would be a shame not to experience that.
"Failing that, I'll just have to buy a little dog."
The 40-year-old singer and his new bride spent their honeymoon on a tour bus with James' "hairy and smelly" road crew as he went straight from marriage back to work.
He said: "Our honeymoon is on a tour bus with 35 hairy, smelly, and beer-swilling band members and crew."
The couple - who met at a party in 2012- legally tied the knot in the UK but then staged a blessing in Majorca before flying to their home on nearby island Ibiza for a party with friends.
Although they were unhappy about helicopters flying overheard to get a glimpse of the celebrations, James says they had a "very beautiful" day.
He said: "I know I'm a singer and in the public eye, I get that. I guess they didn't understand the fact that if you didn't get an official invite through your door then you weren't supposed to be there.
"It was a very beautiful and very private affair with my closest friends and family."

Sofia Vergara's ex-fiancé claims they only split because she didn't want to have a baby.
The 'Modern Family' actress parted ways with Nick Loeb in May amid rumours she was fed up of him using her for her fame and has since moved on with 'Magic Mike' heartthrob Joe Manganiello, but the businessman believes they would still be together if she wasn't "taking advantage of her 15 minutes of fame."
Asked about the Emmy Award winner, the entrepreneur told In Touch Weekly magazine: "She's focused on her career. The most important thing for me is to get married and have kids."
He added: "I completely understand. She's at the height of her career, and, as she says all the time, she's taking advantage of her 15 minutes of fame because who knows how long that will last."
The 'Chef' star, who has son Manolo Gonzalez, 21, with ex-husband Joe Gonzalez, had an awkward encounter with Nick at the Angel Ball in New York City on Monday night (20.10.14) when he tapped her on shoulder while she was being interviewed.
A source told PEOPLE.com: "Obviously, she wasn't jubilant about turning around and hugging him. It was more like she brushed him off and just tossed her hair and kept her cool. I wouldn't say she was overly happy [to see him]."
Shortly after their split, the Colombian actress, 42, started dating Joe, 37, and she recently said: "He's a great guy, he's very funny. And he's very entertaining which is very important for me because I need to be with somebody that knows how to have fun because I like to have fun."

Katy Perry has flown to Morocco for her 30th birthday.
The 'This Is How We Do' hitmaker, who will celebrate the milestone on Friday (25.10.14), landed in Marrakech earlier this week with a small entourage after she was forced to cancel her extravagant party.
The star - who is currently enjoying a three-week break from her 'Prismatic World Tour' - had originally planned to fly a large group of her family and friends to Egypt to mark her special occasion, but reportedly cancelled the trip due to "safety reasons."
A source told The Hollywood Reporter that the singer scrapped her dream of taking a cruise down the Nile and partying near the Pyramids after her itinerary was leaked online.
Another source told UsMagazine.com that Katy quickly decided to fly to Morocco instead for a low-key party.
The 'Roar' hitmaker recently admitted she has less time for bulls**t" as she gets older.
She said: "A lot of times I've ended up with people who have been intimidated by me, unfortunately. They say they're not, but it comes out in the long run. They're threatened, or there's resentment because they don't know how to handle it."
She added: "As I'm heading into my 30s I have less time for bulls**t. I look for the same characteristics: a sense of humour, someone who makes me laugh off the charts, someone who is sensitive, someone who loves and understands music, and who is really smart."

Kanye West has whisked Kim Kardashian West off on a romantic holiday.
The 'New Slaves' hitmaker - who married the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star in Italy in May - surprised her with a trip to Maui, Hawaii for her 34th birthday.
An eyewitness told Popdust.com the couple enjoyed a casual breakfast date at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea to celebrate the reality TV star's special day on Tuesday (21.10.14).
The source said: "They actually looked like any other regular couple, I had to do a double take to make sure it really was them.
"They must be staying at a private villa because I haven't seen them around the hotel, on the beach, or around any of the pools.
"They also looked really loved up. Kanye was holding Kim's hand throughout much of breakfast and they talked and laughed non-stop.
"At one point though Kanye chided Kim for constantly checking her phone - but, she just laughed it off, and held his hand again."
Kim, who has daughter North, 15-months, with Kanye, also shared a photograph of a sunrise from their location on Instagram on Wednesday (22.10.14), with the caption: "Good morning #BdaySurpriseGettaway"
Kanye rented out AT&T Park in San Francisco, California for Kim's birthday last year and proposed to her in front of her closest family and friends.
The 37-year-old rapper also gushed about the brunette beauty on Twitter this week, writing: "Happy Birthday baby! Thank you for being the dopest wife & mom! (sic)"
He then added: "Sometimes I feel like just saying I love you isn't strong enough to express how much I love you... (sic)"

Demi Lovato admits Taylor Swift is one of the few celebrities she is friends with.
The 22-year-old singer, who distanced herself from her former best friend Selena Gomez earlier this year, says the 'Shake It Off' hitmaker is still a "good friend" and hasn't changed despite her success.
Asked about the blonde beauty, the 'Heart Attack' singer said: "She's one person that I feel like, one of the few people I've maintained a friendship with in this industry."
Possibly alluding to her bitter dispute with Selena, who she has known since they were seven, she added: "[Fame] just changes people and it's hard because you have incredible friendships and people change."
The 'Neon Lights' singer sparked rumours she and Selena - who both sought treatment in rehab in the past - had ended their friendship in July after she wrote on Twitter: "Swimming away from the bullsh*t bye b*tch (sic)," but later deleted the post.
A source later said: "Demi doesn't need any extra drama, she's learned from her own recovery to lose the people that bring her down and Selena is to much of a headache."
Meanwhile, the former 'X Factor' USA judge is planning to coordinate her Halloween costume with her long-term boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, this year.
She told 'ET Canada': "It's never happened really in the past, although we have kind of ended up...our costumes end up matching."

Kendra Wilkinson thinks Hank Baskett is being blackmailed.
The 'Kendra on Top' star insists she "didn't care" after a recording of an alleged phone call between her husband, who was accused of cheating on her earlier this year, and transexual model Ava London was leaked online recently, as she believes her husband is being set-up.
Asked about the tape, the 29-year-old beauty told E! News: "It didn't do anything. It didn't make things worse, it was just recycled c**p. If anything, it even sounded more like a set-up. It was premeditated."
She added: "I feel like celebrities right now have a big target on their heads and blackmail is to follow."
Asked if Hank tried to explain the tape to her, she said: "He didn't need to. This is [a] straight set-up and if anybody thinks, 'Oh, he's guilty,' I'm like, 'Who's the one guilty? The one who is setting up this blackmail, that's the one who should be in jail right now.' "
The blonde beauty's "heart" has prevented her from filing for divorce to date.
She said: "I'm not making a rash decision in a divorce or staying with him, I'm just trying to let things happen naturally, let things play out a little longer because I found myself in a position where it came down to literally a signature for the divorce to go through, and something held me back.

The 'St. Vincent' star, who has six sons from two previous marriages, claims he doesn't need any assistance meeting women and "can't imagine" joining Tinder.
Discussing the mobile app, the 64-year-old actor said: "I know about Tinder. I know it became very popular at the Olympics."

Asked if he likes to live spontaneously, he told 'Jimmy Kimmel Live': "Everyone thinks they're doing that okay, they don't want to be bullied, they don't want to be pushed around. There is a certain comfort level that you get to. People don't push you around at your job if you're good at your job and you show up on time. You don't have to be good at your job, but if you show up every day that's most of it."

Kim Kardashian West plans to make her daughter work hard in the future.
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' beauty, who is married to rapper Kanye West, is worth an estimated $65 million, but wants their 15-month-old little girl to carve out a successful career of her own.
The 34-year-old star, whose parents were also wealthy when she was growing up, told ES Magazine: "We didn't get anything [from my parents], we had to get a job if we wanted it. So I was working in a clothing store and I would save and save."
She added: "I was saying that earlier to my friends, 'I wonder what [North's] first job is gonna be.' And they were like, 'What? She's gonna have a job?' and I was like, 'Are you kidding me? Of course she is.' She will have to work for what she wants."
The reality TV star hopes North, who recently attended Paris Fashion Week, will become a fashion designer.
Asked what she thinks her daughter might aspire to be, she said: "I don't know. She loves fashion. Maybe she'll be a designer. Who knows? It's too early to tell."
Despite Kim's comments, a source recently revealed the tot already has her own stylist, 200 items of unworn designer clothes in her wardrobe, $50,000 diamond earrings, an organic chef and several expensive strollers located around the world.
The insider said: "All of North's stuff is always waiting at the location they're travelling to.
"They use a local caterer to bring in food for North while she is in Paris. Kim likes Nori's food to be all organic."

Beyoncé and Jay Z have worked out their "major problems."
The 33-year-old singer fuelled speculation her husband had cheated on her when she cried on stage during their 'On The Run' tour over the summer and changed the lyrics of her track 'Resentment', singing: "She ain't even half of me. That b***h will never be me," but their marriage is back on track after they recently renewed their wedding vows.
A source close to the couple told PEOPLE.com: "They did have major problems. But they worked it out and they've renewed their vows.
"They worked it out for [the sake of] their reputations and for [their 2-year-old daughter] Blue Ivy."
The duo have also been spotted house hunting in Paris in the past month and the insider confirmed: "They're looking for a place."
The rapper, 44, previously admitted the city is "special" to them, as they got engaged and conceived Blue there.
The couple are planning to document their recent troubles on an album, which will give a "raw and honest" insight into their relationship.
A source previously said: "The horrible time they've had this past year will be documented in every lyric to every single song.
"It's going to be the most raw and honest thing they've ever done because they're determined to tell 'their own truth'.
"They want to show the world how they see it, from the inside, and in their own words."
