Kerry Washington credits play for abuse prevention

Kerry Washington credits 'The Vagina Monologues' for inspiring her to become part of the movement to end domestic violence.
The 'Scandal' star has designed a bag for the Allstate Foundation that carries a message of hope for women suffering from domestic and financial abuse, and admits it breaks her heart that there is a need for her to campaign against the issue.
She said: "I actually fell into this work as an artist. Back in 2000 I had just finished filming 'Save the Last Dance,' and my friend and co-star Julia Stiles invited me to watch her in Eve Ensler's play 'The Vagina Monologues'. I was so moved by all these stories of women's identity, value and worth. After that I became part of the movement to end violence against women."
The 37-year-old star didn't hesitate to say yes when she was approached by the foundation to create her own purse.
She added to PEOPLE magazine: "When the Allstate Foundation approached me about designing a bag for their Purple Purse program, I thought, 'This is an issue I care about, and I also care about a good handbag, so I'm in!' Purple is the signature colour for domestic violence awareness, and a purse is where a woman's financial well-being lives. This bag represents taking back your purse strings in the face of abuse.
"One in four women will face domestic abuse in her lifetime. My heart breaks a little that there's even a need for this work."

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini: It’s a good time to be a woman

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini thinks it's a "good time" to be a woman.
The 'Crazy Stupid Love' hitmaker - who married Jean-Bernard in a secret ceremony in July this earlier - loves being a 31-year-old woman in today's society.
She told MTV UK: "It's a good time being a woman in your 30s. I think you fit in your own skin."
Cheryl is due to release her fourth solo album, 'Only Human', next month and has revealed that she's not worried about where it lands in the charts.
She said: "I'm at that point in my life and my career where I just love what I do.
"It's not about chart positions anymore, it's not about any of that. It's just about putting out music that you believe in and that you love and sending out a message that you want to send out."
Meanwhile, the former-Girls Aloud star previously admitted that her short break from music had changed her attitude towards life in the public eye and her portrayal in the media.
She recently explained: "I kind of developed an F-you attitude. [The media are] going to write stuff, doesn't matter what I do you're going to write c**p, you're going to make stuff up, you're going to sensationalise stuff.
"So I may as well do what I love and you're still gonna write it anyway."
She added: "I hadn't stopped for ten years so I needed that break to re-evaluate life, do normal things, simple things - be with the dogs - just enjoy life and enjoy what I'd achieved.
"Even sometimes when you're achieving and you're on this treadmill you don't even appreciate it or understand it fully, because you're onto the next thing already. I just got numb to it all, I got numb to life."

Amy Poehler loves ‘juicy’ relationships

Amy Poehler prefers "juicy" relationships.
The 43-year-old actress and author - who is currently dating Nick Kroll - has revealed she prefers being in a relationship now she is older because she knows more about who she is as a person.
She told PEOPLE magazine: "I find my relationships at 40-plus are really emulsified, juicy relationships, because you have more of a sense of who you are and who you want to be around.
"Talented men are not threatened by talented women. They welcome them. And same way with real men."
She added: "If you're a strong woman and your man likes that, then he's a real man. If you're with someone who asks you to turn your light down, he's a weaker person and you should get away from him."
Meanwhile, Amy - who recently split with her husband, Will Arnett, after 10 years of marriage - is keen to write a book about her celebrity pals, Tina Fey, Mindy Kaling and Rachel Dratch.
She recently said: "My dream would be to write a book about my talented and famous friends and just spend a chapter on each.
"It would be a dream not only because it'd be so easy to write about how much I love their hearts and their work, but also I wouldn't have to write about myself.
"When you're a 'woman in comedy,' you're all kind of lumped together in this weird soup, whereas if you go back and read the books of any of these women, you're reminded of how different and unique and special and interesting and specifically skilled everybody is."

Example wants Professor Green to be godfather

Example wants Professor Green to be his child's godfather.
The 'Changed The Way You Kissed Me' hitmaker - who is expecting a child with Erin McNaught - is keen for the 30-year-old rapper to have a big part in his baby's life.
Speaking to KISS FM UK backstage at the KISS Haunted House Party, Example said: "I'd love him to be the godfather. He does live far away but that could work."
Professor Green was happy to take up the offer, saying: "I could do that. It must be amazing, I can't wait ... No I can wait - I don't want that to be a headline but to have a baby - that must be amazing."
Example confirmed that he would soon be flying to Australia to join his wife so that they can have the baby in her home country, surrounded by family and friends.
Meanwhile, a photograph that she uploaded to Instagram last month sparked rumours that the pair was expecting a baby boy.
However, she quickly quashed the rumours by writing: "Got a leeeeedle bit excited in the BONDS store yesterday... And no, we don't know if we're having a boy! If we have a girl she's going to be in this stuff too. [sic]"

Daniel Radcliffe wants to know Justin Bieber’s secrets

Daniel Radcliffe wants to find out what Justin Bieber's secrets are.
The 25-year-old actor plays Ig Perrish - who grows horns that can help him read other people's minds - in fantasy thriller 'Horns' and would love to use them on the 'Baby' hitmaker.
When asked who he'd like to use Ig's power on, he told MTV UK: "Maybe Justin Bieber. Just because you hear so much stuff about him that you are just like, 'I want to really know, I want to get to the bottom of this!' And with horns, I would be able to."
Meanwhile, Daniel recently revealed that his girlfriend Erin Darke is a big fan of the horns he wore in the movie.
He recently said: "She loves them. How could you not?
"They're glorious and I hope very attractive."
According to Daniel, things are going "great" between the couple, who met in 2012.
For his part in 'Horns', the 'Harry Potter' star had to film a sex scene with Juno Temple and he revealed that it was easier to film with his co-star because they had gotten to know each other well.
He said: "My previous sex scene was with a man. And also with a man who was not a principal cast member of the film, so I didn't know him that well.
"At least with Juno we had a lot of time to know each other well. I can't imagine shooting one of those scenes with someone you hate. It would be horrible!"

Robert Pattinson fascinated by ‘alien’ Hollywood

Robert Pattinson thinks there is something "alien" about Hollywood.
The 'Twilight' star is fascinated by the Los Angeles district and believes it is home to a lot of strange people.
He told 'Yahoo! Movies': "I think there's definitely something alien about [Hollywood], mainly because people who act, they're just people who ... they examine themselves a lot more and like to talk about it.
"And I think if you're spending a lot of time being self-obsessed you just end up being kind of a weirdo."
The 28-year-old also revealed that he has "a lot of patience" for the weird people of Hollywood, but insists that, despite the city being his home, he doesn't think he is weird himself.
He explained: "It's kind of interesting. But I don't know if my view of Hollywood is particularly like that, I always find weirdos kind of entertaining and interesting and have a lot of patience for them for some reason."
Meanwhile, Robert previously revealed that he is "self-obsessed", admitting that he always worries about what he says in interviews.
He said: "I self-obsess a lot. When I'm doing interviews I'm always waiting for some stupid remark to come out.
"I try to avoid getting into any subject where I'm locked into something. It's not like I'm a politician or something."

Ellie Goulding: The royal family are ‘good fun’

Ellie Goulding thinks Britain's royal family are "really good fun".
The 'Explosions' hitmaker admitted that whilst she felt comfortable before her performance at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding reception in 2011, it was "surreal".
The Daily Express newspaper reports Ellie as saying: "I'm friends with the [royals], so it's not like it's awkward because I don't know them. So that's fine.
"But I think just because it's performing in such an incredible place it can make it quite surreal. I think that's the only aspect of it."
She added: "They're really good fun, so it's never been weird for me, it's always just been fun."
Meanwhile, Ellie - who also performed at Prince Harry's 30th birthday celebrations earlier this year - would be happy to put in a performance again if the royal family so wished her to and credited their love for British music for her recurring invitations.
She said: "If they ask me again, of course. I'm sure I will at some point.
"I think they're big fans of British music and I feel lucky that I'm one of the people who gets to represent that at the moment."

Rihanna ‘thankful’ for Chris Brown

Rihanna is "forever thankful" to Chris Brown.
The 'Diamonds' hitmaker is reportedly indebted to her 25-year-old ex-boyfriend for teaching her to be more "humbled" and was upset when he started dating model Karrueche Tran.
A source told HollywoodLife.com: "Chris Brown broke her heart and stomped on it when he brought Karrueche into the picture.
"Rihanna didn't understand why Chris made her compete with another b***h. Like, she's Rihanna. She could have any dude."
The source added: "On the real, the one thing Chris did for Rihanna, which she will forever be thankful for, is that he humbled her. He was the first man to let her know it's not always about her."
Meanwhile, Chris previously spoke out about the special "connection" he has with his new girlfriend, Karrueche, and how he would like to marry her one day.
He said recently: "I dig her, I dig her man, She's dope. I feel like especially being in this industry you need someone that understands you and understands who you are personally except for your name.
"You don't have to be buying them bags, let me stunt on you right quick. Although I do it because I love her, but that don't come with the territory, at the end of the day we have a real connection as best friends on top of our intimacy."
When asked if he would marry her one day, he added: "Yeah, man, but like I'm scared of marriage because I'm young right now. That's the only thing that ..."

Emma Watson dedicates award to dead pet

Emma Watson dedicated an award to her dead pet.
The 24-year-old actress accepted the award for British Artist of the Year at the Britannia Awards, hosted by BAFTA, in Los Angeles on Thursday night (30.10.14) and devoted her win to the pet hamster she lost on the set of 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'.
In a clip from the award ceremony that will be shown on BBC America tomorrow night (02.11.14), Emma said: "I'm especially honoured to be receiving this award from the BAFTA LA because the British film industry hasn't just been a workplace for me. It's been the place that I grew up. It's been a surrogate family, really.
"And a sweet, but slightly morbid example of this, is when on the first 'Harry Potter' film, my on-set hamster Millie had a heart attack and didn't quite make it."
The 'Perks of Being A Wallflower' star explained how the movie's set decorators built a mahogany coffin for her pet, which had a velvet lining and a silver plaque with Millie's name inscribed on it.
She continued: "You're all very special to me and your vote of confidence means a lot.
"And I take it as such a great honour that you're giving me this award tonight ... Thank you very very much. And rest in peace, Millie, this one's for you."
