Dick Pope's name was accidentally pronounced "Dick Poop" during this afternoon's (15.01.15) Oscar nominations announcement.
Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), made the unfortunate error about the 'Mr. Turner' cinematographer as she was reading out the nods for the Best Achievement in Cinematography category during a live broadcast in Beverly Hills, California.
She could be seen slightly chuckling after making the embarrassing mistake but continued reading out the names of the other nominees in the section alongside actor Chris Pine.
Following Cheryl's gaffe, the Twittersphere was sent into a frenzy with several people picking up on the blunder and comparing it to John Travolta's faux pas last year when he mispronounced Idina Menzel's name, calling her Adele Dazeem, while introducing her at the Academy Awards.

braedenpaul95 tweeted: "Thank god I watched the Oscar nominees. I got to witness one of the funniest errors on television #DickPoop #OscarNoms #stilllaughing (sic)"
Some stars even got in on the act with actress Brooklyn Decker joking: "I'm just happy The Academy is finally giving Dickpoop the recognition it deserves. (sic)"
Dick Poop also started trending on Twitter shortly after the awards were announced.
jar155 tweeted: "Well, we've all lived to the day when Dick Poop was trending on Twitter. I guess that about wraps it up for our life goals. (sic)"
Brazzers wrote: "Dick Poop is trending. We can close the internet now, good job everyone. (sic)"
Dick was recognised for his cinematographer work in 'Mr Turner', which received four nods but leading star Timothy Spall was snubbed for his titular role as the eccentric painter.

Kelly Osbourne has been stricken by flu.
The 'Fashion Police' host is battling the viral infection and is desperate for it to go away so she can hang out with her friends again.
She tweeted: Has anyone else had this awful flu that is going around if so how long does it last? no 1 wants to come near me incase they get it! #Ashuuu (sic)"
And Kelly was particularly upset because her illness means she has to miss attending the LA Art Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center today and can no longer get her hands on a piece of art she wanted to buy.
Replying to artist Jessicka Adams, who had posted a picture of a piece entitled 'Joy Was Her Name', which depicted a crying girl with cats in place of her hair, she wrote: @Jessicka @SloanFineArt @LAArtShow Im so dumbed Im sick I wanted to go tomorrow so badly! ps p***ed this already sold I wanted to buy it ;( (sic)"
The 30-year-old presenter recently bemoaned the fact she can't take a good selfie as she always looks "psychotic" in the photographs she takes of herself.
She wrote: "Every time I try to take a selfie I look like a f***ing borderline psychotic! Why can't I be one of "those girls" it just #Farts good selfies? (sic)"

Felicity Jones puts herself in "a slightly suicidal, depressed state" by drinking loads of red wine to prepare for a crying scene.
The 'Theory of Everything' star - who has been nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award for her role in the movie - practices weeping on demand while standing in front of a mirror but joked drinking a fair bit of alcohol the night before she needs to break down in tears on camera can also help because she feels sad on the day of filming.
She said: "Weeks before you're trying to practice and you're looking in the mirror and you're trying to stare because the ideal situation is to get that single tear that rolls down the face.
"I just resorted to the night before just drinking loads of red wine because then the next day you're sort of in a slightly suicidal depressed state. For some reason red wine has this effect."
While the 31-year-old actress' unusual tactics to help her cry on screen seem to work, she does not recommend young actors heed her advice.
She said: "It's perfect for doing really emotional scenes which I wouldn't recommend to young actors. It's probably not the best method."
Despite mastering the art of weeping on camera, Felicity insists she much prefers a film script if the female role is not just made up of the woman crying and kissing throughout the whole movie.
When asked about learning how to cry on cue on talk show 'Conan' last night (14.01.15), she said: "It's usually with women in female parts. It's like, she cries, she kisses him, she cries, she kisses him. One of those movies.
"If it doesn't just have those two moves then you know it's got a great script and you want to do it."
UK readers can catch 'Conan' at 11pm Mon-Thurs, on truTV (freeview channel 68).

Gary Barlow has been asked to sing at "swingers" weddings.
The Take That frontman recently announced he will secretly perform at the nuptials of three of his biggest fans this year and has been deluged with requests to perform at unconventional marriage ceremonies, including those of partner-swapping couples and Disney, Barbie and 'Star Trek'-themed celebrations.
He said: "I've had some great offers. I've had a couple of swingers weddings offered, three Star Trek weddings, a Barbie wedding, a Disney wedding and a couple getting married on a rollercoaster. So all different things, but the weddings I'm doing are all surprises."
And Gary's bandmate Howard Donald - who married girlfriend Katie Halil in a secret ceremony earlier this month - joked his wedding singer offer has sparked a flurry of proposals from fans who are desperate to meet their pop idol.
Speaking to Magic Radio's Jo Parkerson, Howard said: "People are just getting married on purpose just so that Gary can turn up."
Gary, 43, announced his intention to perform at fans' weddings on his Twitter account.
He said recently: "Ready for some fun ? (sic)
"Every week I receive thousands of requests to sing at someone's Wedding !
"In 2015 I want to sing at 3 weddings.
"The only deal is they have to be HUGE fans.
"And all you have to do is stalk me on here."
And Gary even revealed he'd be happy to keep his appearance under wraps until afterwards.
He continued: "I won't publish on here which weddings till after the event.
"In the past best friends have organised these things so if you want to keep a surprise no problem."

Gwyneth Paltrow called Beyonce "right away" after footage emerged of Jay Z and Solange Knowles fighting in an elevator.
The 'Mortdecai' actress always tries to be there for her friends but doesn't ask awkward questions, so reached out to the 'Crazy in Love' hitmaker following her husband and sister's infamous row after the Met Gala last May.
Asked how she reacted the the footage, Gwyneth said: ""I never say, 'What's going on?' If any of my friends have anything like that, I call right away. Absolutely... If someone's clearly going through something, I always go straight for it."
The 42-year-old actress - who has children Apple, 10, and Moses, eight, with estranged husband Chris Martin - went on to praise the "funny and sweet" couple but admitted Cameron Diaz is her closest celerity friend.
Speaking to Howard Stern on SiriusXM, she said: "I have some famous friends. And I have mostly not famous friends.
"My best famous friend is Cameron Diaz. Jay and Beyonce are my others. They're the greatest people. They are funny and sweet, and self-aware and really intelligent."
And Gwyneth also praised her "hilarious" friend Jennifer Garner - who is married to her former boyfriend Ben Affleck - for being "warm" and a great mother to her three kids, Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and two-year-old Samuel.
She said: "I'm friends with Ben still. He settled down, and his wife is awesome!
"Not only is she beautiful, she's so warm and she cooks, and she's so into her kids. She's hilarious... I had a girls dinner before this summer. I really like her a lot."
However, one old friend who the 'Iron Man 3' star is no longer close to is Winona Ryder.
She admitted: "I haven't seen her in years."
However, the blonde beauty insisted speculation they fell out after Gwyneth poached the lead role in 'Shakespeare in Love' from her former friend was untrue.
She insisted: "No, that's an urban myth. I swear to God I did not. I'm raising my hand on the Bible."

Big Sean sings to Ariana Grande on video when they are apart.
The couple - who have been dating for four months - find being in a long-distance relationship difficult so when their careers mean they can't be together for long periods of time, the 26-year-old rapper "checks in" with his 21-year-old girlfriend regularly and his favourite thing to do is send her clips of himself singing to her.
A source told HollywoodLife.com: "When he's away, he checks in with her all the time, which really helps.
"A few days ago, he made a little video of him singing to her in an elevator. She loves that kind of thing. She just wants to know that even when they aren't together he's thinking of her."
However, the insider admits things aren't always perfect in the relationship.
They added: "Ariana and Sean both get jealous sometimes."
It was recently claimed that Sean "cut off all communication with the outside world" and turned off his mobile phone during a short vacation to prove he loved Ariana.
A source said: "When they were up in Tahoe, he basically cut off all communication with the outside world and gave her his complete and undivided attention.
"He turned off his cell phone for the majority of the day."
Sean loves taking the 'Bang Bang' hitmaker on romantic trips because he thinks it brings them "closer".
The source continued: "He loves this girl big time and all he wants to continue doing is spending time with her and being lovebirds and incredibly romantic.
"He's got more trips like that in store because he knows she loves that kind of stuff and it brings them both much closer to one another."

Zach Braff attaches dollar sign sticky notes to bottles of wine he's given by "rich" people so he doesn't accidentally drink them on a normal day.
The 39-year-old actor admits he can't tell the difference between a good bottle of wine and an average one so he takes the assumption that when somebody well-off gives him one it should be saved for an important occasion.
He said: "I love the concept of a wine cellar. My problem is I don't know anything about wine.
"If somebody rich gives me a bottle, I think, 'This is probably good,' and put a sticky note on it with dollar signs so I don't drink it randomly."
When the star is not relaxing with a nice bottle of wine, he loves to meditate by using a mobile phone application that tells him what to do but insists he only uses it "when the s**t hits the fan".
He said: "I have an app on my phone called Headscape that talks you through meditation, as so many people told me it would chill me out.
"I recommend it. You're supposed to listen every day but I only do it when the s**t hits the fan and I need a stranger to talk me down."
One thing that annoys the 'Scrubs' star is when he has no internet on his phone while on a flight, but he admitted on reflection he appreciates it is amazing that we have the technology nowadays to be able to surf the web while travelling in the air anyway.
He added to Shortlist magazine: "My first reaction is how livid I'm getting because it's pretty bizarre in 2015 such a service exists.
"The funniest is when you're on a plane now and it doesn't work and you're like, 'This is ridiculous.' You're flying 30,000ft above the Earth."

Naya Rivera has apologised for saying she thinks showering every day is a "white people thing".
The 28-year-old singer caused controversy during an appearance on 'The View' on Tuesday (14.01.15) when she said she believes "white people" take a shower "a lot more than ethnics", but she has now said sorry if she offended anyone because it was only meant to be a "joke".
Speaking on the programme on Wednesday (15.01.15), she said: "It was supposed to be a joke. I apologise if anyone was offended.
"I said that I thought that showering multiple times in a day was such a white person thing.
"Yesterday we were talking about a study that says we are supposed to shower I guess once or twice every three days which I had an opinion on, it which was supposed to be a joke but apparently didn't go over so well.
"However, I'm very excited that it sparked a big conversation about how many times you should shower."
The 'Glee' star's comments did not go down well with a number of people on Twitter who took to the social networking site to insist they shower many times each week.
_Veise: wrote: "I'ma tell you now, Naya Rivera is incorrect. She is wrong. Ethnic folk do not shower less than White people. (sic)"
LovesModChic tweeted: "I'm still not over Naya Rivera's renk batty self saying that "ethnic" people don't shower daily because SHE showers every 3 days, girl what? (sic)"
Naya said she thought white people must shower more because she only showers once or twice every three days, while her husband Ryan Dorsey - who she married in July last year - prefers to get clean under the water on a regular basis.
She said: "I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnics. I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing."
Some in the studio audience were left shocked by Naya's comments and co-host Rosie O'Donnell then said: "There's an African-American woman in a yellow shirt who is about to have a heart attack."
Naya then turned her body in the direction of the woman and clarified her comments.
She said: "My mom is half-black, half-Puerto Rican. She showers every day, so I can say this. But I can say I'm now married to a white man and he showers a lot. A lot. Like two, three times a day. I'm like, 'What are you doing?'
"A dermatologist says you're only supposed to shower once or twice every three days so I'm right on the mark.
"If you bird bath everything important gets cleaned, you don't need a dunking."
