Benedict Cumberbatch has urged for world peace.
The 'Imitation Game' star has penned an open letter to Father Christmas to celebrate the festive holiday, where he asked for children to be given a "moment of joy and hope".
As part of this year's Letters Live series, he wrote: "This is what I'd like to ask you to help with. A little more time for children to be children. Stretch the moment of magic and playfulness. Distract them from the realities of a world gone mad so that they can laugh with their breath rather than sob with their tears.
"Especially those caring for family members, or suffering illness, hunger or poverty. Especially those hiding in buildings as bombs rain down, or being handed shaking with fear or cold into a boat to escape environmental disaster or war. Please help to light up their worlds with a moment of joy and hope."
The 39-year-old actor - who has son Christopher with wife Sophie Hunter - also used the opportunity to ask for a present missed by Santa in the past - a lightsaber.
He added: "When I think about it you've got it tough this year ... And when I really think about it I'm not sure that asking you for a lightsaber and getting one (not that I ever did by the way) is equatable with controlling the space time continuum and making the good of childhood last a little longer. P.S. Please could I have that lightsaber now?"

The 82-year-old actress lost her sister, Jackie Collins, in September this year after a battle with breast cancer and she is planning a family meet up for the festive period in their native London.

Selena Gomez is "terrified" about trusting Justin Bieber.
The 'Same Old Love' hitmaker is reportedly worried about rekindling her relationship with the 'Sorry' singer because she doesn't know if he will be "exclusive" with her.
A source told heat magazine: "Selena is still in love with Justin, but as exciting as it is for them to be back together, she's terrified to trust her heart again because he's hurt her so many times.
"Justin has this belief that Selena's cool with him hooking up with other women and that they don't need to be exclusive. She may say it's OK, but in reality it tears her apart to know he's seeing other girls."
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old singer previously admitted there was a chance the former couple could rekindle their relationship.
He shared: "We have a lot of history together and I am sure it could possibly happen. I think we are both just on our own journeys and figuring ourselves out and I think maybe once we figure ourselves out we can come back and make an awesome duo or she finds someone awesome and I'll find someone awesome. I just want her to be happy.
"She is someone I love dearly. I'm never going to stop loving her. I'm never going to stop checking in on her. I don't think if you end a relationship, you should end that, unless it was super toxic and you guys were hurting each other physically or mentally. We always respected each other and we still respect each other."

Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West's son is called Saint West.
The 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star revealed the unusual choice as well as the baby's weight, a healthy eight pounds, one ounce.
Alongside a picture of four emojis resembling her growing family, she simply wrote: "SAINT WEST (sic)"
The 35-year-old television personality - who already has daughter North, two - gave birth to her second child on Saturday (05.12.15), nearly three weeks ahead of her due date of Christmas Day (25.12.15).
It has not been an easy pregnancy for Kim, who recently revealed she had to undergo an External Cephalic Version procedure to have her baby moved from the breech position.
She wrote: "This weekend I checked into the hospital and underwent a procedure called an ECV (External Cephalic Version, or a Version), which is done to manually turn the baby from a breech position to a head-down position
"They gave me an IV with medication to relax my uterus, and then three doctors attempted to work together to turn the baby. There was a risk that my water might break or the baby's heart rate could drop - in which case, an emergency C-section would then take place. I went in with my sisters and my husband. I was prepared for it all! (sic)"

Adele has "never been happier".
The 'Hello' hitmaker - who has three-year-old son Angelo with partner Simon Konecki - admits she found it tricky to write tracks for her latest album '25' because she "wasn't sad" anymore.
Speaking on the TODAY Show, she said: "I've never been happier. And I've never been healthier. So I'm good. I found it impossible [to write songs] for a while. I didn't know what I wanted to write about ... What's wrong is, I wasn't sad.
"'Hello' is just about reconnecting with everyone else and myself. From the other side, I couldn't get over my guilt of leaving my kid to go and write a record and stuff like that. So [it's] getting over that - getting on the other side of that. It was just, you know, it's in general, just hello to everyone."
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old singer previously insisted she is "all right" because of her family.
She shared: "Being in such an amazing relationship with someone that's so there for me and so loyal and is really part of my core now, that's what made me write about everything I've ever done, because I've got his love.
"I know that sounds a bit like I'm trying to write a Hollywood movie but it's only because of him and because of our kid and stuff that I'm all right."

Candis Cayne has been "taught a lot" by Caitlyn Jenner.
The 44-year-old actress gushed about the 66-year-old former Olympian - who was known as Bruce Jenner before undergoing a gender transition - for showing her how to cope with everything and still keep a "smile on her face".
She said: "She's so easy in front of people and crowds. She never gets shaken. I've learned a lot from her how to just take a breath and whatever happened, happens.
"Seeing her go through this and seeing her be so stoic through this whole ... it's not easy for her. She's pounded from morning till night. Being able to get through that with a smile on her face, it taught me a lot."
And Candis - who is a close pal of Caitlyn's - is glad she was able to take part on the E! show 'I Am Cait' as she found it "interesting and fulfilling".
She added to PEOPLE magazine: "It's interesting because I transitioned so long ago so it's like re-transitioning in a weird way. It's been really interesting and really fulfilling. The whole thing, it just happened so quickly, and suddenly I'm on this show and it's really fulfilling not only only for me and for Caitlyn, but it's global ...
"Us being on the television creates a change in people's minds that will help with the youth and with everybody who's going through this."

Gwen Stefani feels "embarrassed" by Blake Shelton sometimes.
The 'Used To Love You' hitmaker - who split from husband Gavin Rossdale earlier this year - admits she feels "so exposed" at times because of her new relationship but is "grateful" for the 39-year-old singer.
Speaking on 106.1 WBLI, she said: "Everything changed so quickly like overnight. I'm so tongue-twisted right now - I don't like talking about it.
"I am embarrassed about it sometimes because I feel so exposed but I am so grateful for that friendship that saved me through this year. It's unbelievable what it takes to get through stuff."
Meanwhile, the 46-year-old star - who has three sons, Kingston, nine, Zuma, seven, and Apollo, 20 months, with her ex-husband - previously admitted she is in a "phase of forgiveness" following the divorce.
She said: "When I wrote the song ['Used To Love You'], I was sort of in a phase of forgiveness. In a way, I'm getting to this point now, and all the songs up to that point were like, 'Rah, I'm like so upset and so crazy.'
"Everybody knows, pretty much, what happened to me. I got a divorce, which completely was not in the plan at all. For me, it purely wasn't and [it was] a shock and horrible, a crazy explosion in my life."

Chris Hemsworth felt "moody" when he had to lose weight for 'In the Heart of the Sea'.
The 'Thor' star was reduced to a 500-calorie diet ahead of his portrayal of a man stranded at sea in the drama film and admits he found it really tough.
He told Good Morning America: "The gaining is fine, you just eat a lot and you lift weights but that was underfed, which led to a pretty moody existence and inconsistent emotions.
"You play all sorts of games - if I eat this maybe I don't eat that. The insanity is nuts. In order to do it justice, the story, we had to suffer in some way and we did. In other words, not a whole lot of acting was required. We were desperate."
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old actor - who dropped 33 lbs in four weeks for the role - previously admitted he felt like he was going to "pass out" whilst filming for the movie.
He shared: "We felt as if we were going to pass out any second. Looking back, it was essential [to lose the weight] to do the story justice. It was based on true events which inspired Moby Dick to be written. There wasn't a lot of acting required for those last couple of weeks."
