Shirley Ballas has had one date in three years

Shirley Ballas has had one date in three years.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge admits she hasn’t really gone on many dates in the last 36 months as she finds it "hard to trust people a little bit".
She said: "I’ve had one date in three years. Believe it, it’s true … I don’t have a social life, that’s the sad part. The social life is a little bit more now, going to different parties and supporting charities, which I love. It’s hard to trust people a little bit so it leaves me in a bit of a predicament."
And the 57-year-old dancer believes that "men don’t really adhere to successful women".
She added: "I would like to think I was friendly with my ex-husband for all these years. We were married for 22 years, we have a beautiful son together, but the minute I got the job [with ‘Strictly’], he decided to tell my life story in the newspaper two days before the show aired.
"We’ve had thirty odd years to talk about whatever bothered him. But not just about that, but with people in general, I found that men don’t really adhere to successful women."
Shirley has always been around opinionated men but feels she should give herself "a little pat on the shoulder" for being a "single woman in the industry and successful without a man".
Speaking as a panellist on ITV’s Loose Women, she shared: "I wouldn’t say he told me, but I feel like – I’ve always been a strong character, as a worker, going out to work and doing. I definitely had strong men in my life that were perhaps a little dictatorial – like it was their way or the highway. But don’t think I just sat there and took it, because I didn’t. I had a very strong husband who was really quite opinionated. I sometimes give myself a little pat on the shoulder that I’m still standing as a single woman in an industry and successful without a man."
