Shazad Latif acted with heroes

Shazad Latif relished the experience of working with his "heroes" on ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’.

The 26-year-old British actor – who’s best known for his starring role in the BBC TV series ‘Spooks’, in which he plays the role of data analyst Tariq Masood – appears in the movie alongside the likes of Dame Judi Dench and Dame Maggie Smith, whom he idolised as an aspiring actor.

He told BANG Showbiz: "These are my heroes [that I’m working with], these are the people I grew up watching."

However, Latif admits that as soon as he stepped on set for the sequel to the 2012 comedy-drama ‘ The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’, he put his admiration for the film’s other stars to one side and adopted a professional attitude.

He added: "I’m a big film fan but when you go on set with them, you just have to be professional."

Meanwhile, Latif revealed recently that visa issues almost caused him to lose out on a part in the film, with producers going so far as to train "another guy" for the role as he struggled to make his way to India, where the movie was shot.

He explained: "There was a mix-up in the paperwork. I had a massive visa issue. It was just bureaucracy."
