Shayne Ward and Sophie Austin are expecting their first child together after a whirlwind romance.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor and the ‘Hollyoaks’ actress took to their Twitter accounts on Monday (01.08.16) to announce the happy news in almost identical posts.
Shayne, 31, wrote: ‘After much speculation I’m over joyed to announce that @sophieaustin1 and I are expecting our first child (sic).’
And Sophie, 32, added: "After much speculation I’m over joyed to announce that @ShayneTWard and I are expecting our first child (sic)."
Sophie and Shayne met through mutual friends and started dating earlier this year, several months after she split from husband Graeme Rooney, who she married in July 2015.
And Shayne split from his fiancée Faye McKeever in 2014, after a 10-year romance.
Shayne’s representative confirmed the romance with Sophie earlier this year, saying: "Yes, the friendship between the pair has progressed after Sophie split with her partner, however it’s all still early days to comment further."
Sophie and Shayne have only started telling friends about the pregnancy recently.
A source told The Sun: "Sophie and Shayne have been keeping the exciting news to themselves to enjoy the moment in private.
"But mum and baby are doing amazing and they’ve started telling their nearest and dearest.
"It’s definitely shocked a few people because of how fast it’s happened, but they’re completely in love and are excited about becoming first-time parents."
