Rylan Clark-Neal’s chat show is axed

Rylan Clark-Neal’s chat show has been axed.
The 28-year-old presenter may not be short of work right now thanks to his new series ‘Babushka’ but he’ll no doubt be devastated to hear his programme ‘Up Late With Rylan’, which saw him grill celebrities on their personal lives, will not be returning to screens this year after its debut in 2016 failed to pull in enough viewers.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Rylan’s show failed to pull in great ratings so bosses have decided to rest it.
"He enjoyed making it but unfortunately that’s where the show ends."
However, bosses haven’t always considered giving it the chop as Channel 5’s Director of Programmes Ben Frow hinted last year the show could be coming back.
He said at the time: "I think it was a great thing to do. He is a truly talented, amazing and very, very nice person. I was delighted we were able to pull it off. We’d been talking about it for months so it was great to do it.
"It will come back in some form or other, I’m not sure it will be stripped [across the week]. It’s quite a tough gig but I really believe in Rylan. Going forward, I do think he’ll be one of the great talent entertainers of the country."
And, although producers have decided to pull the plug on ‘Up Late With Rylan’, which ran at 11pm from Monday to Thursday for four weeks in May and June last year, they’re convinced it won’t be the last they see of Rylan.
A spokesperson for Channel 5 said: "’Up Late with Rylan’ ran as part of Channel 5’s Summer of Entertainment and Comedy event last year. Rylan is a great talent and we look forward to exploring new formats with him in the future."
