Ryan Gosling attached to Busby Berkeley biopic

Ryan Gosling is attached to produce a biopic on the late Busby Berkeley.

The 33-year-old actor is circling to produce with Marc Platt, who worked with the hunk on 2011’s ‘Drive’, and Gosling may also star in the forthcoming film which is based on Jeffrey Spivak’s book ‘Buzz: The Life and Art of Busby Berkeley’, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Famed choreographer and director Berkeley was catapulted to the spotlight for work on Hollywood musicals during the Great Depression.

His hits include ’42 Street’, ‘Gold Diggers of 1933’, ‘Footlight Parade’ and ‘Fashions of 1934’.

He has been quoted saying: "In an era of breadlines, depression and wars I tried to help people get away from all the misery … to turn their minds to something else. I wanted to make people happy, if only for an hour."

Berkeley died on March 14, 1976 in California at the age of 80.

Gosling is currently working on an untitled musical drama which is being directed by Terrence Malick and stars Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett.

He will hit the big screen in forthcoming film ‘How to Catch a Monster’, which will be released later this year.
