Britain's Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, has honoured soldiers on their return from Afghanistan.
The 93-year-old royal travelled to the Athlone Barracks in Germany to present around 100 troops with medals for their services in a mission entitled Op Herrick 20, reports the Express newspaper.
The Duke - who is married to Queen Elizabeth II - admitted it was a "great pleasure" to award the medals as he addressed the 300 strong regiment, as well as the soldiers' families.
The troops are some of the last to receive their medals since the British soldiers left their Camp Bastion posts and handed it over to Afghan officials in October.
He said: "It's a great pleasure for me to be here again to present these campaign medals and also to welcome you all back again.
"I am quite sure your family and friends are delighted to see you and I hope you all had a good leave and are now back raring to go."
One member of the squadron, 24-year-old Luke Edwardson from County Durham, recalled his experience fighting in Afghanistan and shared his pride at being part of the last tour.
He said: "It will never leave me and it was a big part of my life.
"It was the last tour so I feel proud to be part of it.
"There's not going to be any more combat troops there.
"On the plane and having a quick look behind and thinking no-one's coming back, I was really proud."

Britain's Duchess of Cornwall has bee venom facials.
The 67-year-old royal, also known as Camilla Parker Bowles, is said to be a huge fan of the treatment by its creator, skin specialist Deborah Mitchell, and even encouraged her husband, Prince Charles' daughter in law, the Duchess of Cambridge to try the obscure face mask herself.
Deborah told HELLO! Magazine: "Someone that knew Camilla tried the treatment and then after that, I was asked to go to the palace.
"It was really nice. The funny thing is, I don't get blown over by treating famous people. It was nice but a bit surreal really. I felt like I was walking in a dream so I appeared really cool. Sometimes now I still think, actually I should really pinch myself."
Following the success of the first treatment, Deborah was invited to recommend products to Duchess Catherine in the months before her wedding to Prince William in 2011 and has worked closely with the royal family ever since.
Deborah admitted she was impressed by the Duchess of Cambridge's flawless skin, and explained that, as well as the facial treatment, the 32-year-old brunette beauty is also a huge fan of her age defiance cream and silk skin BB cream.
She said: "Kate is absolutely gorgeous and remarkably on the quiet side. She's so sweet though and she hasn't got many spots."

The 67-year-old royal visited the category C jail to show her support for a new prisoner rehabilitation scheme, where she met prison staff and volunteers, as well as sharing a drink with inmates.
The Duchess is a patron of the Friends of Erlestoke Prison charity which has founded the new scheme, allowing prisoners to be driven to and from the jail by volunteers.
The wife of the heir apparent, Prince Charles, praised the new initiative and thanked the volunteers for taking part.
She said: "I always say this country would collapse without volunteers. You are the backbone of this country.
"I imagine it must make a big difference to their lives because otherwise how would they get there?"
According to MailOnline, the Duchess first visited the prison in 2012 before becoming a patron of the Friends of Erlestoke Prison charity the following year.
As well as aiding the rehabilitation of offenders into society, the organisation also helps prisoners find accommodation and employment on their release, and works to keep fathers close to their families on the outside.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth is "afraid" of malaria.
The 88-year-old monarch shared her concern that the outbreak of the Ebola virus is detracting attention away from those suffering from malaria and other life-threatening diseases in West African hospitals.
According to the Telegraph newspaper, the Queen made the comments to Professor David Heymann, who specialises in infectious disease epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, as she visited the foreign affairs think tank at Chatham House in London.
Professor Heymann said: "She was very interested in Ebola because she said her doctor had told her that there were more people dying from malaria every week than are dying from Ebola - and he was right.
"She's afraid that malaria will have a comeback because of the fact people are not paying enough attention to it."
He described the monarch as "very perceptive" and agreed she had come to the "right conclusion" over the outbreak's impact on health services.
He said: "This should not detract attention from Ebola. It's a very terrible disease.
"But on the other hand what the Queen has done is call attention to other infectious diseases.
"She asked a very piercing and important question which means that she has analysed clearly the world situation of disease and she's come to this conclusion which is the right conclusion."
A royal source later explained: "She was concerned that efforts to address Ebola should not detract from work to combat other health threats in West Africa."
The Queen visited Chatham House to launch 'The Queen Elizabeth II Academy for Leadership in International Affairs' which hopes to encourage the development of skills in leaders to help them deal with critical situations across the globe.

He says in the video: "I've been watching with great concern what's been happening in West Africa due to Ebola.
"I wanted to take time to add my name to this video by Future View called Ebola is Real. It's an educational piece that will keep you guys safe on how to treat and prevent the spread of Ebola.
"Health care workers down in West Africa have been doing a tremendous job and long may that continue. I want to congratulate them on the tackling and prevention of the disease - it's a horrible disease and working in very difficult circumstances.

William recorded the video at Kensington Palace before sending it off to the company, which is supported in the UK by Purple Field Productions.

The father of Monaco's Princess Charlene insists he will treat her twins "just the same" as his other grandchildren.
Mike Wittstock and his wife Lynette have jetted to Monaco to be close to their 36-year-old daughter ahead of the birth of her first children with husband Prince Albert and though they are excited about their impending arrival, he insists he felt just the same about the other two babies born into his family this year.
Speaking to French publication Point de vue, he said: "Our son Sean, who lives in South Africa, is the father of a 10-month-old child and yesterday it was the first birthday of our granddaughter.
"Now there are two others about to be born, as you know! It's amazing! Our grandchildren come fast and furious. Four in a year.
"I will respect everything required by the protocol, my daughter knows that, but other than that they will be treated in the same way as their cousins."
And despite being born into royalty, the twins will have a savings account opened for them by their grandparents, just as they have done for the other children.
He added: "I have already opened a savings account for their futures and my daughter's children will also have their own, with the same amount in.
"They certainly do not lack funds but I will treat them equally."
Charlene recently spoke of her excitement at the prospect of being a mother.
She said: "The prospect of the upcoming birth is so magical, so powerful. We are full of love, gratitude, as well as a great sense of responsibility.
"I am particularly grateful for the spontaneous love bestowed on me in these special moments. The show of affection for my family, of the totality of the Monegasque people and all our friends."
