Ross Kemp fought back tears on Britain’s Volunteer Army

Ross Kemp had to hold back the tears on ‘Ross Kemp: Britain’s Volunteer Army’.
The 55-year-old documentary maker welled up whilst filming his upcoming show when he saw the number of volunteers who have stepped forward to fight against Covid-19, as it hit "close to home".
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "I walked into a church and I instantly welled up when I saw the amount of food from every class, different religious backgrounds, different ethnicities.
"It hit me harder than other shows I’ve done because it was so close to home, literally and emotionally."
The new BBC One show will celebrate Britain’s heroes amid the coronavirus pandemic and will shine a light on some of the UK’s 750,000 volunteers helping to battle the contagious respiratory disease.
In a press release, BBC described the programme as "an uplifting celebration of the nation coming together to help one another in a time of uncertainty and fear, as Ross gets stuck in and volunteers in his own neighbourhood".
Ross – whose latest ITV show ‘On The NHS Frontline’ saw him visit a hospital during the health crisis – added: "It makes me immensely proud to see the British public mobilising in their thousands to come to the assistance of the vulnerable in our society, and the NHS, in their time of need.
"This pandemic has produced all sorts of unlikely heroes and it will be a real privilege to meet some of them and celebrate their selfless work."
Meanwhile, the former ‘EastEnders’ hardman was previously left shaken during his HMP Belmarsh prison stay for ‘Welcome to HMP Belmarsh with Ross Kemp’.
He was locked inside one of the country’s most notorious prisons for the documentary and admitted he couldn’t wait until he was freed from the cell so he could get some fresh air.
He said: "It is about 33 degrees in this cell.
"I’m lucky, I have got a three-man cell to myself.
"You are dealing with a pecking order and the politics of three men breathing in each other’s bad breath and smells when they go to the toilet.
"There’s no air because there are no open doors."
