Robyn ‘preparing to release her first new music in seven years’

Robyn is reportedly preparing to release her first new music in seven years.

A source said a single is due out in the coming weeks and a full album, apparently titled Sexistential, set for 2026 from the 46-year-old Swedish singer, which would make it her ninth studio album and follow 2018’s Honey, which received critical acclaim for its introspective electronic sound.

An industry insider told The Sun: “Robyn has spent years working on this music and has been really inspired by loads of up-and-coming artists. She has worked with some very cool people and all the stops are being pulled out for this to be her biggest record in decades.”

According to The Sun, Robyn is calling the album Sexistential, and it is expected to blend the singer’s signature emotive synth-pop style with a renewed creative energy influenced by her collaborations and live performances over the past year. The singer has made a number of surprise appearances recently, joining Charli XCX and Gracie Abrams on stage at separate shows.

An upcoming album would mark a significant return for Robyn, whose previous projects have earned her a reputation as one of pop’s most innovative and enduring artists.

Since first emerging as a teenager in the 1990s, she has built a devoted international fanbase through her blend of electronic music, dance beats and raw emotion.

Born Robin Miriam Carlsson, she released her debut album Robyn Is Here in 1995 at the age of 16, achieving early success with singles Do You Know (What It Takes) and Show Me Love.

After breaking from her label in the early 2000s to gain creative control, she launched her own imprint, Konichiwa Records, and released the self-titled Robyn in 2005 – a record that redefined her career and introduced hits such as With Every Heartbeat and Be Mine!.

Her later releases, including Body Talk (2010) and Honey (2018), cemented her as a pioneering voice in modern pop, balancing vulnerability with dance-floor energy.

Known for her cathartic live shows and deeply personal songwriting, Robyn has influenced a generation of artists including Lorde, Carly Rae Jepsen and Charli XCX, many of whom cite her as an inspiration.
