Robbie Williams wants Glastonbury gig

Robbie Williams would "love to play Glastonbury".
The 42-year-old pop star has returned with his eleventh studio LP ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’ and has just announced a European tour for 2017 which will see him play 29 shows in 18 countries with just six dates confirmed for the UK.
Robbie is booked to perform at the London Stadium on Friday, June 23 but has the rest of the weekend free – which is when the world famous music festival takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England.
The ‘Love My Life’ singer went to Glastonbury as a reveller in 1995 and, before his long-running feud with Liam Gallagher and his brother Noel Gallagher erupted, he partied with Oasis, who were headlining the Pyramid Stage on the Friday night.
He then returned in 1998 to perform the early evening slot on the Saturday and as he has never headlined the festival Robbie is hoping for a call from organisers Michael Eavis and his daughter Emily Eavis to take top billing.
Speaking at a press conference to announce ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show Tour’, he said: "If they asked me I’d do it, but I don’t think it’s going to happening this time. I’d love to play Glastonbury. I would like to play the Pyramid Stage in front of a record-breaking amount of people please."
The former Take That star kicks off his run of shows at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester on June 2 with Erasure supporting him as special guests.
Robbie has used a host of songwriters on his album such as The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, Ed Sheeran and Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid it also features a duet with Rufus Wainwright on ‘Hotel Crazy’.
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker is hoping to get some of his collaborators on stage to give fans a special surprise.
He said: "If Rufus or Ed Sheeran is around when I’m around I would like them to come and sing with me then. We will see."
Robbie will receive the BRITs Icon Award at a one-off show at The Troxy in London on Monday night (07.11.16). It will be the 18th BRIT Award he has received during his career.
