Richard Madden eyes Bond role

Richard Madden wants to play James Bond.
The ‘Bodyguard’ actor has set his sights on portraying the iconic role when Daniel Craig steps down as the suave spy, but doesn’t like to talk about his ambition.
His father, Richard Madden Sr., told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "I’m quite sure he does want that to be on his CV one day but he’s not making a song and dance about it.
"Whether it’s Bond or any big role, Richard has ideas about things he’d like to do.
"It’s probably best whatever his desires or thoughts are to keep it to himself."
Despite his son’s success, Richard insists the former ‘Game of Thrones’ star hasn’t had it easy.
He said: "It’s not all been plain sailing. He’s had disappointments. You have to be in the right place at the right time."
The 32-year-old actor faces competition to play 007 as new ‘Bond 25’ director Cary Fukunaga recently admitted he thinks it would be "cool" to cast Idris Elba in the role.
Fukunaga – who worked with Elba on ‘Beasts of No Nation’ three years ago – said: "That would be pretty cool to have Idris and I do a Bond film together. He can drive cars really well, he’s a gear-head, and he can do the action. If they wanted him to play Bond, he could do it."
And Henry Cavill – who narrowly missed out on the the role in 2006 – is training to become a qualified stuntman in order to take over the role of the British spy.
A source said recently: "Henry got down to the last two to play Bond back in 2006 but lost out to Daniel as bosses thought he was too young.
"He wants to put himself in the best possible place to get the job next time and sees becoming a qualified stuntman as another impressive string to his bow."
