Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh paid tribute to World War I servicemen at the "impressive" Tower of London art installation.
The Queen laid a wreath of poppies at the ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’ exhibit yesterday (16.10.14) with her husband, Duke of Edinburgh.
As part of this year’s Remembrance Day on November 11, 2014 the Tower of London will be covered in 888,246 ceramic poppies.
Each floral design represents each British and colonial death which occurred during WWI.
Tom Piper, a stage designer who helped create the poppy installation, revealed that the Queen described the design as "impressive".
He told the BBC: "She was very keen to know the numbers involved. It’s captured the imagination of the whole nation so I think it’s wonderful we’ve had the Queen at one end and also completely ordinary people at the other coming.
"It’s got completely across society."
In August, Prince Harry and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge toured the area which took more than 8,000 volunteers to help lay the ceramic flowers around the site.
