Queen + Adam Lambert close Isle of Wight Festival

Queen + Adam Lambert celebrated the lives of Freddie Mercury and David Bowie during their headlining slot at the Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday night (12.06.16).
The ‘We Will Rock You’ hitmakers – guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor – and the ‘Four Your Entertainment’ singer brought the weekend to a close with a mind-blowing two-hour long set, their first ever festival appearance.
Queen frontman Mercury – who tragically died in 1991 at the age of 45 – was remembered as a video of him singing the second verse of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was played on stage and on ‘Love of My Life’, which was a duet with Brian.
Before performing an acoustic version of the 1975 hit, Brian, 68, took a selfie with the crowd to "immortalise the moment".
Although Adam, 34, has been performing with Queen for several years to critical acclaim, the ‘American Idol’ runner-up says it is still "one of the biggest honours" of his life to sing with the rock group.
He told the crowd: "Thank you to the rock ‘n’ roll royalty that I get to share a stage with, Brian May and Roger Taylor. This is still one of the biggest honours in my life, there will always be, for all time, one Freddie."
Elsewhere, Queen dedicated ‘Under Pressure’, a song they recorded with Bowie, to the ‘Starman’ hitmaker, who passed away in January at the age of 69 following a secret battle with cancer.
A picture of Bowie was flashed up on the screen as they began the song.
Adam also dedicated ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’ to those who lost their lives in the Orlando nightclub terrorist attack.
Introducing the track, he said, "This song is dedicated to those who lost their lives in Orlando, Florida, and anyone who has been a victim of senseless violence or hatred."
Queen played all their biggest hits including ‘Killer Queen’, ‘Radio Ga Ga’ and ‘I Want To Break Free’.
After the set Brian took to social media and said playing the Isle of Wight Festival was "inspiring".
He wrote: "THANK YOU !!! Isle of Wight folks, you were totally inspiring. BRI. (sic)"
The day also saw The Cribs, Mike + The Mechanics, Twin Atlantic and Sixx: AM perform.
Ahead of their show at the Big Top stage, singer James Michael exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "As a child I lived here for a while. I spent some time here and I haven’t been back in many many years. So it’s great to be back."
