Prue Leith: I have no passion for baking

Prue Leith has "no passion for baking".
The 78-year-old restaurateur, who took over from the legendary Mary Berry as a judge on ‘The Great British Bake Off’ alongside Paul Hollywood, has admitted she’s not a fan of creating sweet treats herself and would much rather be tasting pastries than spending hours in the kitchen preparing them.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: "I don’t have a passion for baking.
"I have a passion for eating cakes, but I am more interested in savoury cooking than baking."
Prue’s time on ‘GBBO’ has been more than eventful.
The businesswoman accidently revealed who’d won last year’s series, which is pre-recorded in advance, before it aired on screens, which left her "mortified" and unable to sleep "for days" after, but the whole team and Channel 4 were supportive.
The author said at the time: "Channel 4 were great. Everyone was – Love Productions, the production company and Paul – they all emailed me and said: ‘Basically it is the sort of thing I could have done, don’t worry about it too much.’ Everybody was wonderful but it was days before I could sleep properly. I still feel absolutely mortified by it. It was awful."
Despite the show being filmed in advance, Prue was on holiday in Bhutan with her husband, retired clothes designer John Playfair, when she got the time zones muddled and Channel 4 chiefs asked her to congratulate the winner when it was announced at 10:30pm.
The tweet angered many ‘Bake Off’ fans, and fellow series judge Paul spilt a cup of tea when he found out what had happened.
He said: "I think I was having a bacon butty and a cup of tea in a bikers’ café. And I went, ‘Pffft!’, and my tea went everywhere."
