Princess Eugenie recalls musical memories for charity campaign

The 27-year-old royal has recalled her mother, the Duchess of York, would often put the classic Monkees hit on when she was feeling unwell in the back of a vehicle during long journeys to cheer her up.
Speaking in a YouTube video for the End the Silence campaign in aid of the Hope and Homes for Children charity, she said: "Growing up I used to get really car sick and we used to go on all these trips and journeys and always when we were coming to the last moment of getting there I’d be like, ‘How long until we get there?’
"Everyone in the front would be like, ‘It’s just round the corner’. Then I’d get really sick and they would turn this [‘Daydream Believer’] on and they’d say, ‘Cheer up sleepy, Jean.’
"Maybe it’s because my name is Eugenie they thought Jean?
"My mum sang it, my friends, everyone. I think people would be surprised if they heard this is my favourite song but from my childhood, this is just the dream."
Eugenie, Noel Gallagher, Ozzy Osbourne, John Taylor, Paul Simonon, and Royal Blood are among many other stars who have been reliving the songs of their childhood for the global campaign, which aims to encourage the public to share musical memories from their childhood.
Noel’s first record was Slade’s ‘Come on Feel The Noise’, and rock legend Ozzy chose The Beatles’ ‘She Loves You’.
He said: "That song changed my life … had such an impact on me.
"When that song came on, I knew from then on what I wanted to do with my life."
End the Silence aims to create the world’s largest online childhood musical memory collection and raise £1.5 million for children deprived of love, family and music in overseas orphanages.
Donations to End the Silence campaign will be doubled by the UK government’s UKAid Match scheme – helping 120,000 children leave African orphanages for families.
