Princess Diana’s niece has ‘special memories’

The late Princess Diana’s niece feels "lucky" to have "special and happy" memories of the royal.
Lady Kitty Spencer, now 25, was just six years old when her aunt was killed in a car crash in 1997, and though she doesn’t remember a lot about the princess, what she can recall makes her feel good.
She said: "I was so young when she died. There are only a few memories, but special and happy memories, and I’m so lucky to have those."
Kitty was just four years old when she and her family moved to South Africa, but she has since moved back to the UK and always knew she’d return to London.
She told Vanity Fair magazine: "Obviously, I’ve always felt tied to London and I’ve always felt British and a lot of my family’s here, too, so it was a logical step, one I knew I was always going to take
"I’ve always felt tied to London and I’ve always felt British and a lot of my family’s here, too, so it was a logical step, one I knew I was always going to take."
And the model insists it wasn’t difficult spending some of her time in South Africa with her mother Victoria Lockwood and the rest in the UK with her father Earl Spencer – Diana’s brother and never felt like a "sacrifice".
She said: "I’ve never had to sacrifice one or the other because my mother’s in South Africa and my father’s [in London], so I’ve always gone between the two.
"Now, I love being in London and it makes sense to be here, and it’s a really exciting place to be in your 20s. South Africa’s such an amazing place to grow up and have a childhood but, right now, I . . . really wanted a big city."
