Princess Diana had ‘childhood crush’ on Prince Charles

Princess Diana’s bedroom was filled with photos of Prince Charles, her cousin has revealed.

Diana Macfarlane, the first cousin of the late Princess of Wales, explained that Diana had a “childhood crush” on the man who would become her husband and filled her bedroom with pictures of the Prince of Wales rather than pop stars.

Speaking in the ITV feature-length documentary ‘Diana’, which marks what would have been the late royal’s 60th birthday on July 1, Macfarlane said: “(Diana had) photographs of Prince Charles around her bed… a sort of childhood crush really.”

Diana, who would have turned 60 on July 1, also recalls her cousin’s “wicked sense of humour” in the first time she has spoken publicly about the princess – who passed away in a car crash in Paris in August 1997.

Macfarlane said: “She was full of life, great fun, had a wicked sense of humour.”

Elsewhere in the documentary, an old school friend remembers Diana’s fondness for “trashy, romantic novels”.

Meanwhile, Diana’s trusted psychic and friend Simone Simmons, claimed that the princess once made her sons, Princes William and Harry, “promise to be best friends” no matter what.

In an updated edition of royal historian Robert Lacey’s book ‘Battle of Brothers’, Simmons says that Diana told William and Harry: “You must promise me that you will always be each other’s best friends.

“And never let anyone come between you.”

Lacey adds: “Both boys promised they would keep to that, Simmons remembers.

“They high-fived each other and gave their mother a big cuddle. Anybody would have melted at the sight. Then they went out to play soccer.”
