Prince William wished his mother could have met his wife and children.
The Duke of Cambridge married the Duchess of Cambridge in 2011 and the couple have three-year-old son Prince George and two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte together, but Prince William has admitted he feels "sad" his late parent Princess Diana – who tragically died in 1997 – was unable to meet his family.
Speaking to GQ magazine, the 34-year-old royal said: "I would like to have her advice. I would love her to have met Catherine and to have the children grow up. It makes me sad that she won’t, that they will never know her."
The Prince also said he wants to bring his children up in a real environment and not behind the palace doors.
He added: "I couldn’t do my job without my stability of the family. Stability at home is so important to me.
"I want to bring up my children in a happy, stable, secure world and that is so important to both of us as parents.
"I want George to grow up in real, living environment, I don’t want him growing up behind palace walls, he has to be out there."
