Prince Charles gives heartfelt speech at lunchtime reception

Prince Charles gave a "heartfelt" speech at the lunchtime reception to celebrate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.
The Prince of Wales – who walked Meghan down the aisle at the ceremony at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle – gave a "brilliant speech" at the reception at the nearby St. George’s Hall and said how "happy" he was for his son and the ‘Suits’ actress.
A source told People magazine: "Charles gave a brilliant speech. Harry was very emotional. It was very sweet actually, very heartfelt. He said how proud [he was of who his son has] grown into. He ended it calling him, ‘My darling old Harry, I’m so happy for you,’ which was very sweet. He said how he’s really happy for them both. He said he was very pleased to be asked [to walk Meghan down the aisle] and happy to help out."
Prince Charles walked Meghan down the aisle after the actress’ father Thomas Markle was unable to make the event at the last minute. Thomas had to undergo surgery and Meghan was forced to confirm that her father wouldn’t be there on her big day.
The statement released by Kensington Palace on behalf of Meghan reads: "Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health. I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday."
And less than a day later, it was confirmed Prince Charles would do the honour.
Kensington Palace confirmed: "Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day. The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way."
