Piers Norgan plans NTA boycott

Piers Morgan claims he is boycotting the National Television Awards (NTAs) because he doesn’t want to see Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield win again.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ host would rather "garrotte" himself than attend Tuesday (28.01.20) night’s ceremony at The O2 in London because he’s sick of seeing the ‘This Morning’ presenters and Ant and Dec pick up awards every year.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: "I would rather garrotte myself than sit through another Ant and Dec, Holly and Phil carve up so I will be at home with a nice bottle of wine."
Piers told viewers of the show not to bother voting for ‘GMB’ as it would damage Holly and Phillip’s "massive egos" if they lost to the show.
He fumed: "Fingers crossed for Holly and Phil, I can’t wait to see them up on that stage. Let’s pretend to be Holly and Phil, they’re in the audience and they’re up for best magazine programme or whatever it’s called – we’re nominated, of course, but it’s too late for us. Don’t bother voting for us.
"They’ve won it 15,000 times running, and the winner is… ‘This Morning’! And Holly and Phil go, ‘Ooh, ooh, us! Little old us!’ And Holly gets up there on stage and she gets me right in her eyeline, and she always does this, ‘What’s so lovely is we’re all just one big happy ITV family’.
"Anyway, I’ll be at home watching Groundhog Day.
"Spoiler alert: Ant and Dec win. Holly and Phillip win, for the 37th year. As part of the wider ITV family, we could not be happier for them.
"Do not vote for us, we don’t want to sneak a win at the last minute and ruin Holly and Phil’s moment. We’re used to losing, it’s set in stone that they must win. It’s important that they win, not least for their massive egos."
And the 54-year-old star promised to tweet throughout the televised ceremony and warned he’s likely to disrupt ITV’s "one big happy family narrative" with his posts.
He added: "I will be live tweeting and I think it’s fair to say I will be on some cases and I won’t be holding back.
"The one big happy family narrative may take a little bit of a hit, so you may want to tune into my twitter feed at 7.30."
