Piers Morgan signs new GMB contract until 2019

Piers Morgan will remain on ‘Good Morning Britain’ until at least the end of 2019.
The 53-year-old presenter has revealed he’s just signed a new deal with ITV that will see him continue fronting the early-morning breakfast show alongside his co-star Susanna Reid until the end of next year.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, he said: "I’ve just signed an extension to my deal that takes me through to the end of 2019, people don’t know that. It’s an extension to an extension. I did two extensions in the space of four months. So I must be doing something right at the moment. But that can change."
However, Piers is determined to remain on the programme until he’s beaten rival BBC’s ‘Breakfast’ in the ratings war – even though he thinks they’re at an advantage because they don’t have to run commercial breaks or competitions.
Asked if he will rest until he’s beaten the BBC’s viewing figures, he replied: "No. No. But they’re the BBC they don’t have to run commercials, they don’t have to competitions. It’s a totally different dynamic and we are in a way behind them as things stand but we’re a lot closer to them than we were two and half years ago. That’s interesting to me that we’ve managed to close the gap pretty significantly."
Piers joined ‘Good Morning Britain’ in 2015 and he doesn’t think it’ll be long before the BBC is given a run for their money because their format is "boring."
He explained: "At the moment everyone views ‘Good Morning Britain’ as a success story. The ratings are up 35 per cent in the last two years, which is a big, big jump in terms of ratings. I think they’re a perfectly competent programme with good presenters but they’re fairly BBC stayed, dare I say, boring. I think the one thing we’ve brought is a bit of spark and spontaneity and unpredictability.
"And you’ve now got a clear choice you can go with the BBC and you can watch what they do which a lot of people like, or you can come to us and have a more unpredictable, lively, noisier affair."
