Piers Morgan says coronavirus scare was hay fever

Piers Morgan thinks his coronavirus-like symptoms were actually caused by hay fever.

The 55-year-old broadcaster recently took some time off from hosting ‘Good Morning Britain’ after showing symptoms of the virus, but on reflection, Piers now feels it was probably just an extreme case of hay fever.

He wrote on Twitter: "Worst hay fever I’ve ever had.

"Know pollen count’s very high, but anyone else getting it so bad?

"Any theories as to why?

"Is reduced pollution during lockdown a factor? (sic)"

Sky News’ Deborah Haynes subsequently replied: "I was wondering the same thing, plus whether anyone else is having to reassure strangers the pollen-fuelled-sneeze volley with streaming red eyes is chronic hay fever and not anything COVID-y…! (sic)"

Then, Piers admitted that his coronavirus scare was, in all probability, just hay fever.

He tweeted: "Exactly! I genuinely thought I had it several weeks ago, now I’m sure it was bad hay fever. Lot of similar symptoms apart from the fever, ironically. (sic)"

Meanwhile, Piers recently renewed his ‘Good Morning Britain’ contract for another year.

The outspoken presenter confirmed that his on-screen partnership with co-host Susanna Reid will continue for at least one more year after he agreed a new deal with ITV.

Piers said: "I’ve just signed a new contract up for ‘GMB’ until the end of next year. I love working with Susanna and the team – we’re a Ying Yang that works."

Piers also insisted he doesn’t care what his critics think of him.

He said: "If my style upsets people, don’t watch! Watch something else. Nobody’s forcing anyone to watch it.

"You’ve got a remote control in your hand, I really don’t understand what the problem is."
