Peter Crouch wants Prince William as a guest on his show

Peter Crouch wants Prince William to be a guest on his new television programme.

The ex-England football international is co-hosting ‘Crouchy’s Year-Late Euros: Live’ with Maya Jama and Alex Horne, which starts in June. And after the Duke of Cambridge proved to be such a good sport on his ‘That Peter Crouch Podcast’ in 2020, the 40-year-old now wants William to make an appearance on his television show, which runs in conjunction with this summer’s football European Championships.

Speaking in the Daily Mirror, Peter said: “I had Prince William on the podcast so wonder if he’d come on the show, because he was amazing. It’s going to be a lot of fun and we haven’t been allowed to go to football or go to bars or go to gigs, so the next best thing is sitting at home and feeling you are part of the Euros and part of our show.”

William, 38, previously took part in Crouch’s BBC Radio Five Live’s podcast as part of the Heads Up campaign, launched to encourage people in football to discuss mental health. During which he spoke about his own limited abilities on the football pitch and how as the heir to the throne, he’d previously had to play against people who wanted to “break his legs”.

After describing his footballing self as, “a fat knacker running around at the back, panting”, William then explained how he’d once asked one of his royal protection officers to shine a laser pen on a rival player, to pretend he was pointing a gun at him, thus ensuring he wasn’t on the end of any rough treatment.

William said: “A long time ago, I got one of my policemen to take a laser pen out with them. And I got him to red mark, red dot one of the players. I kept saying, ‘See, see what happened to you.’ I was about 15 at the time I said, ‘See, he’s following you, following you.’”
